Question: Is anyone interested in tickets tonight—404, row N. Free. We can email them.
Also, how do I post them on the Rink exchange. Never done this before.
We want people in the sits if possible.

I’d absolutely take a free pair of tickets if you’re unloading them.

I have three. Son is sick. Can I share them between you and Moose

6-9-2, 3.71 GAA, .881 SV%. That’s a nice line to see on an opposing goaltender.
I believe he’s dead last in the NHL in SV%. Out of like 45 goalies. So not only is he worse than every starter, he’s also worse than most of their backups.

Here’s hoping. Knubs could definitely use an ugly garbage goal or two. And we could definitely use a big physical line to shut down Stamkos and MSL.
I’m betting Ward/Halpern/Chimera gets the heaviest dose of Stammer/St. Louis.

Fair enough. This tubby could probably stand to, too. I figure I’ll do it by adding exercise, not by cutting food. Although I need to do at least one.
Eat, drink, and be merry! And then drink some more.
Sadly, I was reading a study about fat loss – folks who dieted and didn’t exercise lost 10 pounds of fat over the course of a year.
People who exercised but ate what they wanted dropped 2.5 pounds.
People who did both dropped … ready for this? 12.5 pounds, or the additive total.
I’ve read from other sources that diet is more important than exercise, unfortunately. One trainer went as far as to say that unless you’re Michael Phelps, you’re not going to outwork your diet.

yeah, i did mine by cutting all processed foods and cycling a shit ton. I actually lost too much and it turns out i was way under my ideal calories, so i had to eat more. But it was all good food, so it didnt hurt.
It helped that the 30 was all i needed to lose too. I’ve put on a few pounds since then, but im still 25lb+ down from that all time high
↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → b a (select) start
Yeah…I’m down about 90 from my all-time high and I still have about 25-30 to go.
Cycling is great because you can do it for a long time without hurting your joints. That’s not true of any of the impact exercises.

Thats why I had to do that, but you can still get RSI injuries. If you are doing it for exercise or anything seriously you have to make sure everything is set up correctly.
Congrats on the 90, and good luck on the remainder. If you can drop that far you can get the rest.

Orlov I wouldn’t give up unless we were getting something amazing for it (ie Weber, Malkin, a star) in other words won’t happen.
Eakin I would give up for the right price but not just give him away but I see being replaceable especially right now.
We’re not getting a superstar for Orlov unless they have an anchor contract, so I’m not holding my breath on that. I agree that Eakin is replaceable, but I see his as a pot-sweetener at this point. Guys like him are available in the FA pool pretty regularly.

Do you see Orlov as a legit 2nd pair puck mover with PP upside in the next two years? Because I think that’s the only way he’s going to provide that kind of surplus value.

I do, the kid has a cannon they just need him to learn to aim, he has already shown he can play big minutes and I am not sure we resign Green because of his health issues so I would not be surprised to see him and Wideman be our #2 pair next year.
He definitely has to learn to aim it and I’m far from convinced he’s going to be able to handle 2nd-pair minutes next season. I don’t think he’s untouchable, personally.

Right now I think his worth couldn’t be lower since we are calling up AHL guys to play over him so why would someone give up much of anything for someone we don’t feel is better then an AHL guy?
I'm not sure where the speculation came from
or why we’d want him he seems like a cast away, maybe it was a castaway for castaway deal, we have one of those too
He’s a castaway right now because he doesn’t fit in Dale Hunter’s system. He’s definitely an NHL player and he’s demonstrably better than John Erskine, who was getting a sweater over him pretty regularly when Hunter came in.

Schultz is a 4/5 defensive D on a 2.75mm contract who can play reasonably tough competition and kills penalties well. When he fucks up, he’s very visible because his game is all gap-control and reach. You don’t want him out there against fast, laterally agile players like Kane – he can’t handle that.
One guy he eats up? Evgeni Malkin. Against guys that try to use reach and stick-handling to get around their man, Schultz is ideal.
As for what he’s worth, I have no idea. Where do you see the Blackhawks as having a surplus, either in prospects or in positional NHL players, keeping in mind that the Caps can’t afford to take on too much salary?

Seems pretty damn likely. He might be able to move laterally fast enough to give Schultz trouble, but that come-straight-ahead-and-screen move he has? No way Schultz falls for that. The puck ramps up his stick and goes out of play for a faceoff.

So, in other games of note to the Caps tonight, Toronto is playing Buffalo, and it would be good for the Caps if Toronto lost. Won’t leapfrog them, but would be within one point.
It would also be good if Florida lost in regulation. This would mean that Pittsburgh would have to win. We all know Pittsburgh will lose just to spite us.

MIAMI — Oscar-winner Gene Hackman was briefly hospitalized with bumps and bruises Friday after a pickup truck bumped him from behind while he was riding a bicycle in the Florida Keys, his publicist said.
The 81-year-old Hackman was airlifted to a Miami hospital and released several hours later after routine tests, said publicist Susan Madore.

MOJO needs to beef up in the offseason, he gets pushed off the puck too much.
What say you, hockey gods???
Nah, he needs to get stronger without getting heavier. His advantage is his speed, and he’ll lose a half-step if he adds a ton of muscle. His bugaboo is going to be functional strength, which he probably won’t fully come into for another few years.

So – if you are GMGM do you lock in Wideman at two more years if the price is right? I guess if you do, it’s buh-bye Green? Tough choices.
Nice guys finish first, but sometimes the season is awfully long.

What is the right price? I doubt that Wideman is affordable to keep here. And that’s okay since Orlov seems like he can step into that role quite well.
In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
I’m not a salary cap guy, but I doubt we can get him for the “right price,” given that we have to sign Carlson as well, right?
Nice guys finish first, but sometimes the season is awfully long.

Hell, with the injuries, Green might have become a deal for us to resign (if he is more healthy going forward).
In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
Re-sign. Resign is, like, the opposite. (Sorry, everyone spells it without the hyphen, but it drives me crazy because I always read the “quit” meaning first.)
I get it, but in context I felt like it was okay. “Will he resign / re-sign?” is a much different sentence than “The team can resign him,” because the team would “let him go” unless they were being really awkward with their English.
Of course you are technically correct – the best kind of correct.
In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
Carlson won’t cost a huge amount since he is an RFA, probably a little more then Alzner got last year. As for Cap space it depends on if we resign Green and how much of a discount we get because he is injury prone. Also it depends on what we do with Semin. If we don’t resign him and just use Kuzzy to replace him then we have some extra money to deal with. My guess is we resign Wideman over Green unless Green is willing to take a small one year contract to try and show he can stay healthy for more then two games to be an UFA after next year and then try to get his major payday.
Carlson isn’t arb eligible and the GM community seems to think RFA sheets are dirty pool. That’s the reason that Alzner was so cheap – no leverage to speak of in negotiations. Carlson is in the same boat, granted with better counting numbers.

Carlson already has 17 As, he’ll finish with at least 25. Toss in 5-8 goals and you’re likely looking at better than Alzner’s career high.

Green is a flat-out better player than Wideman, especially at ES. I’d roll the dice and hope that the Caps can re-sign Green at a discount. The groin stuff is new, and hopefully a full summer of rehab can fix whatever ails him.
Honestly, I’d think hard about selling Wideman at the deadline. Friedman was saying that teams will sell their souls for D depth? Write this year in the postseason off and see what you can get for the expiring contract. It’s almost certainly more than you’ll get in excess value over his next contract and there’s nothing preventing you from signing him this summer.

"I think I’m going to have to be cognizant of this for the rest of my career, probably," Green said. "It’s something you’ve got to take care of, especially with hockey it’s such a common thing. It’s just maintenance right now, making sure I’m on top of my stuff and getting better. I don’t think I’ll be 100 percent for a long time, I’ve just got to get to that stage where I can play."
Wow, that’s disheartening.

Yeah that is why I think we keep Wideman and trade the rights to Green if anyone is wanting to take the risk. I would be Detroit would be willing to trade a pick or two especially if Lidstrom retires. They have been used to protecting a Dman so they would be best equipped to try and keep him healthy.
Difference is that Green is RFA and Wideman is UFA. For that reason alone, I’d trade Wideman. Detroit’s pick is going to be low, also. They’re an excellent team. Again.
