Caps Sign Brooks Laich

Stay connected for news and updates

Per Mike Vogel, the Caps have re-signed Brooks Laich to a six-year, $27 million contract. He would have been an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Laich will be entering his seventh full NHL season with the Caps and his eighth season with the organization. He struggled early in the season and is coming off of his lowest point total since 2007-08 as well as his lowest goal total since 2006-07, but also put up stellar defensive numbers and was one of the keys to the Caps' revamped penalty kill.
