  • Congratulations to Team Russia, who eked out a 2-1 World Cup quarterfinal victory over old friend Canada and advanced to the semifinals. Alex Ovechkin skated a lot, but his offense is apparently still clearing customs. [RMNB, CSN Washington]
  • Prospect playoff update:
    • It will be Game Seven for Brett Flemming and the St. Mike’s Majors, as the Owen Sound Attack changed goalies and started blocking shots on their way to a 3-2 victory to even the series. Brett had one assist and was on-ice for only one goal against, the game winner. The next (and last) game in the series is Sunday at 2pm. [The Star]
    • Both the QMJHL and WHL could see their championships decided tonight. The puck drops for Stanislav Galiev at Harbour Station at 7pm and for Cody Eakin at the Rose Garden in Portland at 10.
