2 10 Rookie Braden Holtby might be staking a claim to the starting job in goal for the red-hot Caps.
2 7 The Caps are the hottest team in hockey with wins in eight straight games, and Alex Ovechkin is hitting his personal turbo button at just the right time. They’re nipping at the Flyers’ heels and looking dangerous in the playoffs.
2 9 Who are these Capitals? In an eight-game winning streak, they’ve given up 12 goals.
2 7 Don’t look now, but the Caps have won eight in a row thanks to an overtime victory over Chicago on Sunday. Not only have they opened up a five-point bulge over Tampa in the race for the Southeast Division crown, they are just a point behind Philadelphia for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
4 8 The high-flying Caps won all four of their games last week, extending their winning streak to eight straight. Washington comes into Week 23 9-1-0 in its last 10 games.
2 6 Strong defense has allowed just 12 goals during eight-game winning streak.
2 6 Capitals have won eight in a row and nine of 10. They’ve proved they can grind, which should serve them well come playoff time.
5 Pending?
3 6 Rookie stopper Braden Holtby looks comfortable between the pipes running his record to 6-0-1 in his last seven starts. It’s looking like Holtby is making a strong pitch to be the Caps starter when the post-season arrives.
10 12

Winners of eight straight, the Capitals haven’t climbed as high as they might otherwise thanks to injuries to primetime performers. What’s most encourgaging may be the play of rookie G Braden Holbty, who has surrendered a total of seven goals in his last six starts.

2 6 Caps put foot on the gas at the right time, have won 8 straight to move into third place in the East. Of note: Alex Ovechkin has been instrumental in the winning streak notching 11-points (4G-7A) in the eight games.
