The Noon Number
9 - Consecutive games against Pittsburgh, including all seven as a Capital, in which Mike Knuble has scored a goal; Knuble's 30 career goals against the Penguins are a dozen more than he has scored against any other team in the League

Knuble certainly has a nose for the net.
Jordan Staal has a nose for… uh, something else.

Gotta love a goal scored from behind the goalie.

Looks just like the Cup winning goal by Brett Hull in 99.

He and Laich both had some brilliant looks on the powerplay yesterday; they seemed to be doing a much better job of getting pucks on the net and looking for rebounds.
I was kind of glad he got the empty netter.
Yep. Those will start clicking soon, and as D’s have to pay more attention to the guys down low, more will open up on top, and before long it’s “Hello again, 25%!”
In theory.

I thought it was hockey justice that after Hendricks “denied” Knuble of a goal earlier, he gave him the pass for the ENG
Bruce Boudreau when asked about Brooks Laich's return to the lineup, he said: "He just adds another dimension to our team. If it was puzzle, he just fits that thing. He completes us."
Brooks Laich completing everything from teams to tires and everything in between.
it was beautiful, and Knuble launched that puck into the net with some authority. I was deliriously happy that Knuble scored after losing a goal AND kept his Penguin-slayin’ streak alive.

I thought we finally had him shut down but yeah, like you said, he really buried that empty-netter.

Who has the most career goals against the Penguins?

JP is clearly in a good mood today. Up arrows galore in the Ups and Downs and now a positive number in noon number.
"If you want money, go to the bank. If you want bread, go to the bakery. If you want goals, go to the net" -Brooks Laich
It’s the Caps that are better, not the author. 2 wins in between Nooners does wonders.
You had me at no problem.
He could have had SEVERAL yesterday, too.
I was there near the ice, and I’m not an expert at lip reading or anything, but you could see the sheer “how the hell did I f*#* that up?” expression after a few of those misses.
Every time Matt Bradley scores a goal, everyone inside the Beltway should get the next day off from work. It's only fair.
I thought he had this one

Awesome screen caps. And yes, the entire arena thought he had those ones. In fact, half the crowd jumped to its feet and started cheering a goal on at least 2 occasions. I still don’t know how those didn’t go in.
You had me at no problem.
Unfortunately, I’ve learned to keep the camera trained on Knuble when he’s out there.

Thanks for sharing the pics. They’re great. And I’m still scratching my head in disbelief.
Hockey won’t hold still for a portrait. To gain a glimpse inside you join it in progress—just as the players do.

Yes, thank you, PensAreYourDaddy. I also used your video of the Cooke/Ovi/Backs scrum today in Clips, for which I also thank you.
You perhaps knew me better as "Your Nation's Capital." Same great commentary, now with 100% more transparency!

I remember when Knuble signed here, Pens fans went “GODDAMMIT! Why can’t he go west?!?!?! $@%#^&”

At least now we see him four games instead of six.

“Mike Knuble” is German for “Aaron Rodgers”…

My favourite Knuble goal vs the Pens

Not pictured: Knuble.
This was the third goal, Game 5 of the 2009 playoffs. This goal made me think the Flyers could pull off a win in Game 6 and take the series in Pittsburgh Game 7. Boo.
Mourning Gagne forever.
