Capitals Lunchbox, Season 2, Episode 8
In which Alan May, Kellie Cowan and I talk about the first week of the Dale Hunter Era, fixing the Caps, and a lot more, all from the big kids set. Dig it.

What’s with the Varlamov clip (12:55)?

Pretty sure I am the “stat junkie” Alan was referring to re: Ovechkin’s hits vs goals scored.

Likely. Any specific piece you wrote on it, or just general tweets and such?

DJ King back on the radar? That was the most surprising thing I heard.
Any particular reason, or you just think he fits in with Hunter’s style of play more than with Boudreau’s?
Patron saint of quality footwear.
The latter. And I don’t think he’s close to being recalled or that he will be… just closer.

May actually made be feel a bit more optimistic about the team righting the ship. I’ve felt that perhaps we were witnessing a lost season, where nothing goes right and expectations are slowly but methodically dashed.
Alan obviously has a good relationship with Hunter and can break down his system well. It gives me hope to see some light emerging from the darkness. If our goaltending improves from goalten-dung, we should see a marked improvement by Jan- February.
I appreciate Kellie’s ability to perform at a high level no matter whom they place on her line.
Ambiance and vanity.

Indeed.
And they shifted me from wing to center.

Hope you don’t fade in the second half of the season.

Well if Keeley’s brought in at the deadline, we’re all fucked.

I’ll bet it’s not because she’s left handed.
