As Tim Leone points out on twitter:
Hershey currently has the top points percentage in the East (.614).
With a win Sunday at Bridgeport, Hershey would move into a tie for first in the East. WBS and Norfolk are idle.
From Scott Stuccio via twitter:
Sound Tigers scratches: Howes, Langkow, Olson, Gillies.
Sound Tigers start Kevin Poulin (6-6-0, 3.39 GAA, 891 sv%) coming off of a great game last night vs. Albany. [of note, since he played last night, but the game was at home for Bridgeport]
BEARS scratches: Flemming (healthy), Miskovic (healthy), Mink (veteran), Greentree (injury), King (injury)
Mitchell & Richmond in today. Nino Niederreiter up with NYI; Rhett Rakhshani will play for 1st time this season against BEARS. Calvin de Haan also in on D for 1st time.
I find it weird that Hershey has the highest Pts Pct because I’ve heard so much about Holtby struggling mightily.
Once you take the fisting element out, it's not romantic anymore.

Aucoin with back to back goals in the second period. Second one an unassisted shorthanded goal. Bridgeport scored in the first resulting in teddy bears heading to the ice. Kundratek has points in 3 straight games.
I’m working with a couple of other folks, wearing headphones. I came close to screaming when he scored the shorthanded goal, but caught myself.
"The Caps fan doesn't say, 'is the glass half full' or 'is the glass half empty'. He wonders when the glass is going to spill."
I’m guessing Flemming is bummed he’s not playing today given his former junior teammate, Cizikas, is on Bridgeport. Of course, they did play against each other once already this season.
Listening to the game. No one else is, huh?
Bears 2-1 on an Aucoin shorty.

Same; middle of the day and football games are on so not expecting that many will be listening and on here.
No surprise that Buffalo sent FInley back to Rochester since he didn’t play much and Buffalo has a short break (and cap issues.) Reports were he was going to play in Rochester’s game today, but just looked at the boxscore and he isn’t in the line-up. Perhaps an issue of getting there in time since Rochester is playing 2 players short today from my read of the game summary.
Oh boy, Holtby gets a slashing penalty. Gotta keep that temper under control.
"The Caps fan doesn't say, 'is the glass half full' or 'is the glass half empty'. He wonders when the glass is going to spill."
Really, Braden? A slashing penalty with 3 seconds in the period?
Gotta pick your spots, man.

He’s been ornery this year. Looks like the they don’t have PIM in the goalie stats on the Bears’ website, but I’d guess he’s taken at least four penalties already.

10/15 roughing
10/28 2 roughing penalties 4 PIMs total
11/19 Interference
11/25 10 minutes Misconduct – Unsportsmanlike conduct
12/4 slashing
Note, I pulled this together quickly so I may have missed one.

Andrew Miller (the beat writer) and some of the fans recognized he wasn’t going to last the season on the Stingrays with the way he was playing.
I looked at the Hershey roster this morning – not much in the way of real Caps prospects there right now. Holtby, Mitchell. Maybe McNeill, but I’m guessing he’s approaching his expiration date.
"The Caps fan doesn't say, 'is the glass half full' or 'is the glass half empty'. He wonders when the glass is going to spill."
With the graduation of prospects, plus Eakin and Orlov up with the Caps right now, then some trades, Sjogren heading back to Sweden, and some other prospects not panning out, it’s definitely an older roster in Hershey.
As far as Caps prospects playing pro hockey, the 2 goalies, Holtby and Grubauer (in SC).
Kundratek, the dman acquired in the Bouchard/NYR trade, turns 22yo later this month and has this year and next season remaining on his ELC.
Flemming and Mitchell it’s wait and see but if I was forced to say, my reaction is that Flemming has more NHL upside than Mitchell from what I have seen of the two in juniors, camps and with Hershey, so far.
As far as McNeill, it depends on how you define a prospect, but he’s under contract for this season and next so still worth keeping an eye on, IMO.
(as far as SC, the Washington contracts are Grubauer, Paquette and Stevenson; don’t think I’m leaving anyone off)
Oops, forgot about Flemming and Kundratek (being a trade, I forgot he’s on his ELC). But, yes, I was mostly thinking about the fact that Eakin and Orlov are currently in DC. And that Grubauer is in SC. I was looking at upside in Hershey. They’re in it to win every year, I’m sure they’re not concerned about the lack of Caps prospects as long as they win.

Hey RB … I had the mis/fortune to be graced with Docciavelli’s presence during the Pens-Caps game. Unfortunately, I only had one chance to tell a nearby Pens fan to “Eat a Fucking Porcupine”, which to give Docc and his father credit, they laughed at. Several round of beers on them and taking one of my tickets … it was, dare I say, pretty fun. Except losing to the Pens part.
Anyways, we were just shooting the shit and wondering whether a Rink pick-up game could be a platform to help out with your fundraising efforts. Was thinking of throwing in there a couple of pairs of tickets to help out as well. Tried getting in touch with you about it …
Hi. My name is Christoph J. I'm a Caps fan.
got your message, sorry I haven’t gotten back to you. busy at work and then slacking all weekend.
Anyways, yes, I’m sure we could do a combo Rink pick-up/fundraising! I’ve been hoping to pull something together (happy hour and raffle?) but haven’t had the time or resourced to pull it off alone.

It’s probably pretty rusty. I try to at least write in it every now and then, or think, or just really use it in any manner to try and stay on top of it. But it’s not where I’d like it to be; though it could probably be picked back up pretty easily. Unfortunately I don’t get many real chances to use it.

It’s all about the lists … Choose your lists wisely and I think it’s a phenomenal resource for news — similar to the Rink’s morning Caps’ clips with links, etc.
Hi. My name is Christoph J. I'm a Caps fan.
I don’t use the lists effectively, although I actually created a new one today; not sure how it will go and whether I will keep or delete. Do you have any recommendations as to lists to follow?
I have my own hockey list, and since I’ve had to start following a ton of people for work, the hockey list is all I read. I need to trim it because I’ve added a lot of people indiscriminately, but I like it so much better than my standard timeline.
I haven’t checked other people’s hockey lists, but I’m sure that’s a worthwhile endeavor to find new follows.
I follow too many people but seem to have added 2 more today (thanks to this thread, ha ha)
I definitely looked at some lists early on; there are some media lists I used at the beginning but didn’t follow them and lost track.
I warn that if you follow me, there’s 2-5 work tweets every night (which can be useful to learn what’s coming on TV ;) ). Other than that, my tweets tend to be Caps related and then not very frequent.
What is your Twitter ID?

It was a character I created back in the stone age of the ’90s when I had a zine—the Glamazine. A friend and I created the Glamazon Movement in 1994ish (before the term was used primarily to describe supermodels), to combine feminism with stereotypical “girly-ness.” Our mantra was that a girl could learn a lot from a drag queen.
Anyway, I wrote under that name for a long time, and when the Internet came along, I migrated that handle to my Internet identity. I’ve considered changing my twitter handle, but it’s more trouble than it’s worth at this point.
On the hockey side of things? Not really … I come straight here for my news. My guess is to start with JP’s if he has any …
Hi. My name is Christoph J. I'm a Caps fan.

It’s not a real team. Just something the Walt Disney Corporation made up.

Classy jeans
I intended to post this last night, but game night is too hyped up…
What does it say about our team that you might have to think for a few minutes to identify the player wearing these bedazzled jeans?
Not a North American, you are correct. I think our NA players would all about die before wearing such things. Although I do seem to recall some story about Hendy and/or Brads putting on Ovi’s bizarre sweat/jeans in the locker room, on a dare.
All I get is a red X.
But I’m guessing the wearer is under 23.
"The Caps fan doesn't say, 'is the glass half full' or 'is the glass half empty'. He wonders when the glass is going to spill."
God, not Backstrom… I know he has some questionable taste in clothing but that is just painful, not to mention unflattering.
Dingos are involved. Best not to ask.
nope. wearer was born in a country that no longer exists.

And not North American.
You’re going to freak me out if it’s Hamrlik. Or Vokoun.
I started to set the bar at 25, which would have made a big difference. I see alex is scared it’s Backstrom.
"The Caps fan doesn't say, 'is the glass half full' or 'is the glass half empty'. He wonders when the glass is going to spill."
Ding Ding Ding!
That is the sparkly rear of our #1 goalie.
And, like I said, it’s amazing that, on our team, it took that long to figure out. I like to think it bespeaks an adventurousness in dress seldom seen in an NHL club. ;)
and I just want everyone to know that when Alice and I first saw what Vokoun was wearing, we were doubled over in laughter for at least a minute.

And I still haven’t seen the photo.
Actually, if you think about it.. Vokoun’s a chatty guy. I could see him having the type of personality that would dress a bit, um, trendy?

I don’t know why it didn’t show up in the first post, but it did for me in the second post. Maybe refresh the page?
It showed up for me in both posts. Thank you for that, Alice. ;)

Oh, man, if Karl had been wearing these jeans, along with the salmon cardie and the uggs, well, his saintliness would have protected him, I’m sure.
we really should have gotten a picture of that outfit.

don’t blame this on me! You have to learn to control yourself when someone goads you into taking pictures of bedazzled rears.

oh, poor baby, he had to switch his d partner. poor poor thing. and “We’re going to have to have a little talk with [the coaches] and figure it out.”??? If I’m Barry Trotz, I’d tell Suter where he can shove that idea.

ok, wow, just wow, all convo about the Florida splash page after you see this.
That linked me to something that I wish I could unsee. Conversation about what I saw would be clumsily articulated shrieks of pain (and/or horrified laughter).

that’s not helping me like Carey Price

I just finished watching Amazing Race. Thanks to Wisco, I knew who got eliminated before I turned it on. You should never ever tweet reality television. Ugh.
Nice guys finish first, but sometimes the season is awfully long.

Especially TAR, since it airs at different times everywhere depending on football. We had to stop having TAR WatchParties because there was no way for everyone to watch at the same time.
I have the DVR set to record an hour after finish to ensure I never miss it.

If you don’t want spoilers, you have to avoid twitter.

I’ve been on twitter for nearly a year and have never seen a reality tv spoiler. That’s probably a result of whom I follow, but I think it’s an unwritten rule.

And that’s why people should WatchParty rather than Twitter if they want to discuss their shows. :D

Just out of curiosity, is WP kind of like Television Without Pity only in the moment? Because that site is a hotbed of internet wankery.

And that question reads pretty bitchy, but it wasn’t meant that way.

Probably true. Since I don’t watch reality tv, I don’t have to care.

I get enough reality TV with hockey.

I find myself rooting for the Wild. I want Boudreau to have the same record as Hunter did after two games. I don’t want it to look like the Caps fired the wrong guy.
