Props to Braden for widening our list of prospects to dangle for a 2C for acquitting himself so well under pressure. To Beags and Matty: not so much. You guys need results to stay up here. Lots of effort, but little to show for it.

As opposed to guys who are already up here.

After a long arduous summer of training, back for a new season of perpetuating hockey superstitions
Why not? NHL is on break but the AHL isn’t. Hershey has games tonight, tomorrow and Saturday. There will be happiness in Chocolatetown today. One or more of them will be back next week if Semin and/or Neuvirth aren’t ready to go.

Take ‘em off the Caps’ cap hit for about a week, plus Holtby’s got to get back to backstop the Eastern Conference All-Stars.

are they a knock on the cap if they aren’t playing in any games? Asked another way, are cap hits caculated per day or per game?

definitely per day
Because now I can justify browsing and commenting during the work day with the argument that I am promoting my business.

Another good point. No matter what, I figured Holtby at least would get assigned so he could play in the All-Star game.

Semin must be ready to play? Who else?

Brads also played last night, so he is definitely ready.

Sending back Matt P though is the big question. Sure he hasn’t been super productive but what does it mean? Are they set to use Laich as 2c? Or are they putting their money on Mojo as 2c with Semin and Laich and letting Gordon/Hendricks play 3c.
But am I missing someone? With Fehr out still it seems the caps are missing a 3rd line wing. Unless they are going to be dressing DJ King more often.
Or are they prepping for a trade?
Personally I’d like to see again, with the assumption King is playing
8-19-22
21/90-28
25-26-15

Set ’em, forget em, let them sink or swim.
Bruce Boudreau when asked about Brooks Laich's return to the lineup, he said: "He just adds another dimension to our team. If it was puzzle, he just fits that thing. He completes us."
Brooks Laich completing everything from teams to tires and everything in between.
The way they’ve looked, I’d be willing to swap 22 and 25 and keep Chimera up top for a while. (Although I can’t tell if Knuble looking like shit has been just his partners or because he’s finally looking old.)
Eat, drink, and be merry! And then drink some more.
Problem with Chimera on the top line is it forces 21/22 on the same line, which won’t keep happening with Sasha returning, and one of them down to the 3rd line which is a waste. Neither has been overly productive but more likely putting Knuble down to 3rd line, because Laich can take draws, wouldn’t benefit anyone.

last night there were some times where 21 and 22 weren’t on the same line, so it’s been done
LET'S GO CAPS!!!
I have no problem with leaving Huit-Cinq in the AHL for a while. He’s just not doing anything. I don’t know how else to put it.
Quatre-vingt cing is the actual number.
It seems the guy has had trouble producing since the broken nose. (He’s had trouble breathing, as a result, and needed some surgery.)

Yeah, it was a Chad Ochocinco reference…but anyhoo… I really do like the guy, and I think he earned a shot coming into the year. But he seems caught between the NHL and AHL right now. I’m starting to think he’s AAAA player. Bottom line is though he’s earned some time back in the AHL or if what you say is true he needs to sit out until it’s not a problem anymore.
QVC is definitely correct for mainland French, but uitante-cinq is also an option, since he’s from Quebec, yes?

I think some of the sent down guys will be back in Washington after the All Star Break.

Yeah, I mean, why keep the cap hit when we don’t have any games and prevent Holtby from playing in the all-star game?

True. (And last year, the Caps sent down several people to Hershey during the Olympic break, including Sloan and Laing, who had basically been with the team the whole year. They had also sent down Neuvy and Carlson.)

It’s likely more for the schedule the Bears have rather than the hit (the 3 of them combined would take up a little over a million if they stayed up the rest of the year).

Unless they’re shooting for the moon, though I doubt that’s going to happen based on the last couple of deadlines.

can’t imagine matty p will be gone for that long. at least I hope he isn’t

Well, I’ve been rooting as hard as anyone for him to do well, but he’s been pretty much flailing around the last couple weeks. Gets knocked off the puck easily, or loses it on his own, then falls down trying to get it back…not looking good. Maybe a stint back in the A will help.
It’s all wrong, but it’s all right.
He’ll probably have another 3-point game when he gets called back up.
Matt Bradley: He has sensitive skin, no?
Only one slight difficulty with that scenario — we have to go further in the playoffs than Hershey.

I love HBH as much as anyone, but the big club gets priority no matter when or what the circumstances.

You’re right. We did call up Alzner for the playoffs last year even though Hershey was in the playoffs also.
(Of course, the Caps going deeper in the playoffs would make the decision MUCH easier.)

Holtby will be back if Varly or Neuvy is still injured after the break. I think Beags will be back because although he hasn’t been pouring in goals, that’s not really why he’s here. He’s been doing a serviceable job as a grinder and is an easy upgrade over King. MP, on the other hand, is here because of his scoring and he just hasn’t been showing it. But unless they pull off a trade, he’ll probably be back because they are short on centers. Only way that doesn’t happen, barring a trade, is if they decide MaJo is ready for full-time 2C and they play Hendy or Gordo as 3C and Stecks or Beags as 4C.
Per Tim Leone & other tweets, paper transactions only. Beagle and Perreault are not reporting to HER, they have the ASG break off, and Holtby not dressing for the game tonight.

Or will they dress for the weekend’s games at all?
