Question of the Day
Rookie camp is almost here! Aside from some of the more talked-about names (Johansson, Eakin, Kugryshev, etc) who are you most looking forward to seeing? Who do you think will stand out? Who will disappoint?

This question makes me saaaaaaaaaaad :(
Probably Bruess. I think there is a pattern to the players I like…
I have a twitter.

Won’t have Delly to make him bleed this time.

Yes, but I will enjoy his play nonetheless.

I’d like to see Hauswirth’s progress.
"#DCU is like senior prom. A bunch of people standing around waiting for a 17-year old to score."
One who’s actually agile, yeah.

F: Galiev (probably counts as a bigger name) and Angus
D: Stevenson and Flemming
G: Grubauer
Lockout talk makes me want to go out and choke an old lady - Elliotte Friedman
Burke and DeSimone. Saw both play with UNH last year. It will be cool to see them again and see how they stand against the other prospects.
I don’t see either of them on the list?

thanks, that’s what I thought. And then I thought maybe my reading skills were failing me.

Can Angus disappoint if nothing is expected of him?
Galiev w/o the other young russians will be interesting!
Jared DeMichiel, though he goes by DeMike. He had a llot of fun backstopping RIT to the Frozen Four, and will be Tweeting for us during camp.

I Love his tweets. And the boy can cook too!

I’m looking forward to seeing Galiev – he’s my favorite. For no logical reason whatsoever.
And…I’m going to go waaaay out on a limb and say that AnGus is actually going to stand out (in a good way) this year.

If anyone needs me, I'll be at Kettler.
The Sea Dogs took on the local PD in a softball game...

…and won it, too. Though our nice Russian boy failed to go yard.

Sea Dogs open their season ranked #2 in the CHL (where they finished last year, behind Delly’s Barrie Colts), but they have most of their key players (5 total) away at NHL camps on the eve of the regular season opener, plus another guy already with a five game suspension.

I got a feeling Simon Despres might get a 9 game taste of the NHL if he has a strong camp. Doubt he sticks in the show for the whole year, but it’s a possibility St Johns doesn’t get him back for a while.
"Game's the same. Just got more fierce."
I agree. That’s where the signs are pointing, and that’s what the Dogsbloggers are thinking as well.

There will be one other young Russian besides Galiev; i,e, Kugryshev, who couldn’t make it to Development Camp due to visa issues. I’m sure the two of them will get along just fine and be buddies. (Both are Russians who’ve played Canadian junior league.)
Last year at D-camp, Kugryshev got along great with Orlov (our red velvet cupcake thief.)

Cody definitely dialed it back in Broncos training camp, and the Bronc’s first couple of preseason games were a little shaky. Some of the local press wasn’t too happy about his effort level, but whatevs. Once he gets done with rookie camp (and I wonder if they won’t have him stick around for the main camp), he should arrive back in Swift Current ready to play. And in pretty good shape.

I’m always interested to see the non-contract invitees, in hopes that one of them impresses the organization sufficiently to get a contract. One of the guys who might be interesting is Patrick Cullity, who was apparently a defensive stalwart for the University of Vermont this year and last.
Interested: Dmitri Orlov
Will Disappoint: Angus.
Bruce Boudreau when asked about Brooks Laich's return to the lineup, he said: "He just adds another dimension to our team. If it was puzzle, he just fits that thing. He completes us."
Brooks Laich completing everything from teams to tires and everything in between.
Orlov and Kuznetsov are staying in Russia with their KHL teams. Geno had no points in Traktor’s season opener against Salavat Yulaev. Traktor lost 7-2.
They’ll be on this side of the pond in November, when Team Russia comes to play the Subway Super Series. Look for Galiev to join them when they play in St. John.

I’m looking forward to seeing Stan Galiev the most and I’m hoping that he stands out. I also want Dustin Stevenson to have a good camp.
He's a better skater than Nick, but he's big in the back[side]...BB
