For some reason I think this a big rookie camp for Gustafson and Godfrey, not they’ll make the big team, but that they need to prove that they are good enough to compete well with the top prospects. Both guys have been around a while and this might be their last chance to show their worth. Both certainly need to be AHL’ers this season or bust.

Only Mackan has an outside chance of making the big team.

I don’t think it’s as immediately important for AnGus to impress. Then again, it may be more important, given that I think JGod’s already donezies.

On AnGus, people are in too big a rush to declare him a complete bust (yet many still hold out hope for a guy drafted three years earlier in the same round). But yeah, it’s a big year for him.

For his sake, based on what he said about lacking confidence, I hope he can make it through the camps without injury.

I assume Finley is the guy for whom hope is held out, if I remember my draft years correctly? No way that guy has any sort of meaningful career in the NHL, imo.

I hear you on holding off on the final judgement on AnGus, though. It’d be great if he made it.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Amazing how people still hold hope for Finley and are already to write off AnGus as a bust before his 20th birthday.

Finley seems like he’s got personality.

I don’t see Johansson on the training camp list. How do guys from rookie camp get to training camp? Is the decision after rookie camp is over?

My blog and Twitter, featuring coverage of the winger that has now terrorized over 70 NHL goalies.

Presumably.

O Captain, My Captain

Posting of the training camp roster begs the question: when exactly is Ovie expected back in DC?

by Ovietracker on Sep 9, 2010 3:38 PM EDT reply actions

September 17.

Yep.

Birthday boy

So Ovie isn’t due in DC until the day training camp starts, on his 25th birthday??? I was sort of hoping he’d arrive a little earlier for a change. I guess he’s still very busy in Moscow LOL.

by Ovietracker on Sep 9, 2010 3:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Gee whiz, our Captain will be the last to arrive. Guess someone’s throwing a birthday party for him in Moscow. Of course, when he gets back to DC, I’m sure someone will organize a “Shaving Cream Pie in the Face” event in his honor in the locker room.

I was looking at the training camp roster and came across this guy Joel Rechlicz who played with NYI last year. I never heard of him before so I looked up his hockey database page. It ain’t too pretty, not that I was really expecting him to make the team…

Holt .45 no longer rookie enough for rookie camp?

And five goalies in for main TC. That’s a confusing crease.

Finley’s a defenseman again? She’s my sister, my daughter, my sister, my daughter….

By the way, I don’t see Belanger listed. Or Willie Mitchell. Or Robyn Regher. What’s up with that?
