"#DCU is like senior prom. A bunch of people standing around waiting for a 17-year old to score."
besides the general inconvenience, particularly a weekend loaded with events, a great many offices no longer observe Columbus Day and will be open Monday.
Good one, Metro.

yeah closing 2 of the longer lines servicing popular stops on a holiday weekend seems guinness
Bruce Boudreau when asked about Brooks Laich's return to the lineup, he said: "He just adds another dimension to our team. If it was puzzle, he just fits that thing. He completes us."
Brooks Laich completing everything from teams to tires and everything in between.
BRILLIANT!

But the fed gov is closed, so no one else goes to work, right?
Damn, I saw that and flipped. I don’t care so much about that Monday because the roads will be lighter, but I had Saturday night all planned out (coming back from afternoon wedding), and now I have to re-think my strategy.

My office is open Columbus Day, but closed Veterans Day.
I’m not sure what that says about my company, but I think we’re disrespecting the great Christopher Columbus.

Wow. For the folks coming from PG, they can switch to the Green/Yellow at L’enfant Plaza and head to Gallery Place that way. From the south, Blue line can switch over to the Yellow line in Virginia…
The Orange line from Fairfax is getting screwed here. The fastest way downtown is to go to Rosslyn, then switch to the Blue heading towards the Pentagon, then switch again to the Yellow into DC…
Ridiculous.

Um, Mike…if you’re coming from PG…wouldn’t you really be taking the Green Line anyway? Ya know, direct-like.
GREEN LINE FTW!
oh, it’s worse. Caps play Saturday and Monday that weekend.
That said, the shut down a chunk of the green line over the same weekend last year and I was shocked at how well they operated the shuttle buses. They had two different shuttle services: Navy Yard-L’enfant, and Navy Yard-Chinatown, and both ran every 7-10 minutes, more if demanded required it. About a thousand times more efficient than any other metro-operated enterprise I’ve ever seen. So, fingers crossed for all you orange line people.
