I REALLY want Eakin to get a roster spot.

You had me at no problem.

It’d be cool, but sadly it ain’t gonna happen unless we trade some folks or cut someone like Steckel or Gordon. Given how young this team is already, I don’t see that happening.

I’d rather he get another year down in the W, rather than burn a contract year.

rather than burn a contract year.

So very much this. It’s not going to hurt him any to be more physically and mentally mature when he hits the league. Also, he’ll be better value over the life of his ELC if it starts in his age 21 year rather than his age 19 year.

Or at least in his age 20 year.

Yeah, you love those Copper ‘n’ Blue guys so I’m sure you’re familiar with their opinion on 18 and 19 year old NHLers. I would only like to see Eakin get a job if he blows the doors off and proves that it would be borderline insane to send him down. I don’t think he’s been that good, especially with the depth of the competition he’s facing. If he’s in the same class as Mackan and MP you may as well give them the chance and send Cody down. I want him to make it when he’s ready to make it.

I figure after he gets a “long” look this training camp/preseason, send him back to juniors where he can shine as their Captain. And be ready for Hershey next year. (He’s probably ready for Hershey this year but can’t happen since the rules are what they are.)

I see no chance of him making the roster. He is too young and has too much physical development to do. In a couple years, I think he will certainly be here.

I like him too, but all the remaining spots on opening night seem to be taken by; Johansson, A Gordon, Hendricks, or Perreault.

I think Beagle has a better chance than Hendricks.

So a game winning goal in a low scoring game is better than a hat trick in a high scoring game?

(Okay, I’m snarking here. But Beagle does have more recent history with the Caps organization so he may have the edge there.)

I’d disagree. Hendricks is the better skater, and Beagle’s size is offset by the fact that we’ve got King now.

I don’t see Beagle pegged as an enforcer like DJ King. You’re right that he’s be a 4th liner, but he’s had recent playing experience with Bradley and Co., so he’d be able to fit right in should there be an injury. And the fact that mngt gave him a 2 year, 1-way contract, I’m assuming they have plans for him in the big club.
