Schultzie gets pretty crazy behind the scenes. A guy like him, him and Tom Poti, those two guys, when you get them alone behind the scenes might get pretty crazy." - Matt Bradley on potential break-out stars of HBO's forthcoming reality mini-series "The Road to the NHL Winter Classic

Sometimes the most introverted guys, like Schultz actually can be pretty funny around their friends. (I had an introverted male friend back in HS who actually had a great laugh when around his friends but most people outside of his friends probably didn’t know this.)
And Semin has an “all pro” laugh, especially around Ovi.

I got some laughs out of this one, especially this part:
I further wondered whether the Caps’ room will produce a breakout star, a charming personality, someone the country will fall in love with. Like Eric Fehr, maybe. “No, no one will like Fehrsie,” Bradley said.
I basically laughed out loud and almost spit out my water when I watched Bradley say that. Omar is certainly a great straight-man.

Me too. I can’t decide which part of Brads I prefer—his dry wit or his paper-thin skin.
"I’m very happy to hear the news," Ovechkin said when he heard about Backstrom's longterm contract--"because he’s one of the top centers in the world, one of my best friends and we want to play together for a long time. He’s a guy who wants to stay in one place and be comfortable and win, just like me. We talk all the time about playing together, and we talked after the playoffs about how we can win in Washington."

You like his paper thin skin? Yikes. That’s the one thing I’d change on him.
4th Floor, is next, swimvare, undervare, Eric Fehr...
Just kidding—I liked his jokes about his paper-skin thin. He just has such a great attitude and sense of humor.

I laughed when I saw that on the video today. Love brads dry humor. Deadpanned like a pro

Brads…so tremendous I don’t even have a good enough superlative. Hahaha. He’ll be the breakout star.
Everything ends badly...otherwise it wouldn't end.

Honestly, he might end up being the guy who really shines during the miniseries.
Every interview I’ve seen him in has been hilarious.
Who's your Padre?
imagine if he ends up bleeding during the filming. Our little Cult of Bradley will have to open national chapters.

haha, there is a distinct possibility that there’s a fight at the WC. Hopefully Bradley takes the reigns and King is a scratch

Bradley sticks up for the honor of his teammates vs Brooks Orpik who keeps running them down both on the ice and in the media.

i think it will be interesting to see how their personalities really are. Ovechkin and brads will probably be the same cause they are just natural all the time. But a lot of guys have “proffessional” facade for the cameras.
I do want to see the guys come in from a hard win, and hard losses, and even landslides straight out of the tunnel to what their reactions actually are. How happy crazy do they get, how sad? Maybe I’m just babbling on but I think this series can be as transparent as the radio recordings from Knuble and Sloan. Transparent as in how real the emotions are like TSlo exclaiming “I don’t play hockey, I practice it”
Bruce Boudreau when asked about Brooks Laich's return to the lineup, he said: "He just adds another dimension to our team. If it was puzzle, he just fits that thing. He completes us."
Brooks Laich completing everything from teams to tires and everything in between.
Knuble said Chimera’s the guy who is totally going to embrace mugging it up for the cameras. So I look forward to that.
some more video! GMGM on why they agreed to it and how it will or won’t affect the players.
The press conference, featuring Nate, Ted, Agent Steinz’s bald head, and Mark Taffit (sp?), sr. VP of HBO programming. The most interesting part, imo, comes at the end, talking to one of the HBO producers and how they’ve never done a 24/7 or Hard Knocks in the middle of the season. I have to say, I’m really really excited by this. In the middle, there’s some video shown (sans sound) and towards the end is what I presume is a mock-up of the intro for hockey 24/7. And I have to say, love how they present Ovie: big grin, hugging teammates.

It’s pretty amazing when you think that just four years ago, the Caps were one of the worst teams in the league playing in a half-empty building and now they’re going to be featured for a month on HBO. Maybe Vinney and Ari will drop by the locker room.
I know! Steinberg asks that same question in the link I posted below. In March 2008, right before Caps madness really took off, we called the Caps and got group seating for 15 people, no problem, 3 days before a game. And at the end of the 2006-2007 season attendance was so bad they were selling lower bowl center ice seats for $35! it’s insane. And it’s great.

Matt Bradley should have his own TV show.
Because now I can justify browsing and commenting during the work day with the argument that I am promoting my business.

What they should do with Brads is have him host his own segment on the pregame show on CSN. Just give him a microphone, have a camera guy film it, and just air what comes out. The Islanders did that with Pat Flatley and Glen Healy in that they let them talk about what ever they wanted on camera before Islander games (It was called “The Flats and Heels Show” of course). It was Wayne’s World before Mike Myers and Dana Carvey came up with it…

Steinberg has some more details, like when filming will start, a little trash talk about the Caps being the more interesting team (an aside: is all the media kick-off stuff here at Kettler today, or was there similar stuff in Pittsburgh?), Bruce’s initial worry that they were going to film players getting cut (“…which sometimes is very personal, for the player and the coaching staff.”), and a little WTF is up with that logo?

I’m actually most interested in how Semin turns out in this show. Since he tends to avoid interviews and whatnot, I wonder what happens with him.

Prediction: Mean Lars comes into his own.
You perhaps knew me better as "Your Nation's Capital." Same great commentary, now with 100% more transparency!

Chimera and Brads are the two I’m most looking forward to seeing. It will also be interesting to see the Russians together and how they act.
Never underrate the power of the hissy-cow.
The Russians will have lots of fun together. No one else will understand a word they are saying.

It could get hilarious. We already know Ovie, but I think we could see the real Semin around Ovie. I wonder what Varly’s like around them – he seems like a real character from the little I’ve seen.
Never underrate the power of the hissy-cow.
My favorite part of the Ovie segment of the video is when he tries to egg on Semin to talk to the reporters, but Semin won’t bite and Ovie tries to explain that he’s “too shy.” If the Russians show their true nature in the off-ice coverage, they just might be too hot to handle even for HBO where nothing is censored and pretty much anything goes.
