Also a little nugget: Ovie’s finally rated higher than Sid this year! He’s a 94, and Crosby’s a 93—you can see it when the Sedins are describing their teams.

The ratings are weighted on every single attribute of a player so they are actually REALLY high. Ovi beating Sid is pretty impressive considering his faceoff rating is probably pretty low. He must have a much higher ratings in a few other areas.
I look to the future because that's where I'm going to spend the rest of my life.
The equal weighting though I think needs to be changed (one weighted differently based on whether you are a grinder, playmaker, sniper, etc, would be better). They have to give AO great defensive awareness and faceoff ability among other things to bring his rating up.

If Lidstrom, Keith, and Pronger (?) are rated 87...
Firstly, that’s a bad number.
Secondly, is Green higher or lower? I think higher, actually. I can’t imagine a three way tie for best defenseman.
And I wonder what Backstrom is. In NHL 09 he’s an 82 while Toews is 84 and Kane 86 (something like that).

I was surprised at the amount of Pronger love among the stars interviewed. And I have to think Baxter is rated higher this year than last.

So this all begs the question: who would be on YOUR ultimate team?

The Bradley tank and Alex Ovechkin (in goal) would be unstoppable. I’m seeing a cross between Call of Duty and that crazy knucklepuck street hockey player in D2 who dressed up as a goalie on a trick play.

Ovechkin – Crosby – Nash
Gaborik – Backstrom – Kane
Zetterberg – Datsyuk – Kesler
Stamkos – B. Richards – St. Louis
Keith – Green
Doughty – Chara
Lidstrom – Weber
Miller
Vokoun
I’m comfortable with this team. It may have cap issues, but it’s got some defensively sound depth players for the PK, enough offensive punch for the PP, some shootout specialists, effective passing and shooting on each line. It even does well in the faceoff department (Crosby is 56%, Backstrom is 50%, Datsyuk 55%, Brad Richards 51.5%). Obviously, there’s more than enough skill both offensively and defensively on the blueline.

Why not? Heads and shoulders best goalie since the lockout.

I thought it was pretty interesting that Patrick Kane chose Marian Gaborik to play on the right wing instead of himself.
Funny that Toews picked himself right away, but Kane is the one who only picked other people. You’d think from their personalities it’d be the other way around.
