I haven’t seen about seventy-five percent of those beers at VC……..the upper concourse for sure doesn’t have them.

Don’t know about Boddington’s, but you could get Red hook right outside of Section 427. I remember it was a small beer Kiosk on the window side of the concourse. Hope it’s still there next season.
"HISTORY DOESN’T MATTER!!! .... Who cares if it’s never been done? We aren’t those teams who failed before. We are in control of our own destiny, and we will make it happen our own way.." - A Gordon, June 2010
Eh….Red Hook is InBev anyways. Should you want it though, its available at one of the kiosks on the upper deck. I’ve never seen Boddington’s though.

Boddington’s is available on the club level. At the blizzard game vs ATL in Feb, me, F&B, K_C, and Natty polished off about 20 of them I think.
And Natty fed another 2 or 3 to the Verizon Center floor. Good times.
Speaking of Natty, I haven’t seen him around here in a while. Anyone know where he’s been?

I saw him pop-in near the top of the Flash Arb, but that’s all I’ve seen of him in months.

From the Fehr article — worth repeating:
I find it amazing that Eric had the lowest average ice time (12:08 per game) for any 20 goal scorer in the NHL last season, by 2:36 per game (a huge gap)…. So once again, the question needs to be asked: is there something about Eric Fehr’s game that causes Coach Boudreau pause in calling his name?
Sigh.
“If we had to go beyond that number in arbitration, it could have been an issue where we’re walking away or moving the player,” McPhee said. “We’ve done reasonable deals with all of our players and we didn’t want to be in a position where we were giving someone more than was deserved. We made that clear to them. They were comfortable with that number and we were comfortable with that number.”
The whole Tarik article is good for GMGM’s thoughts on King and the role of fighters, but this bit about Flash is amazing. I still agree with J.P. that it would have taken a ridiculously high contract for the Caps to walk away, but this at least makes me think they had it on their mind more than we expected. Who knows if he really would have walked, but it’s nice to see.

What also gets me is that it wasnt a secret that Flash probably would have gotten more in arbitration, so why not go? Was he afraid the Caps would walk away, and no team would have paid him his awarded amount?
I’m not aware that McPhee is that forthcoming in his thinking. He has three RFAs and eight UFAs up for new contracts next season. Perhaps that was a shot across their bow.

Let us hope that King gets his hands on Cindy NEW YEARS DAY
Oh, CI posters….
"Because the game is not just about fighting no more. " D.J. King
It was a bit of a bloodletting thread I read this morning on CI. I remain ambivalent about the trade but I agree that it can’t really hurt the team. And certainly could help. There are a lot of McPhail posters on that thread. I’m not saying he hasn’t made mistakes but for a certain element of the fanbase he just sucks no matter what.
"I’m very happy to hear the news," Ovechkin said when he heard about Backstrom's longterm contract--"because he’s one of the top centers in the world, one of my best friends and we want to play together for a long time. He’s a guy who wants to stay in one place and be comfortable and win, just like me. We talk all the time about playing together, and we talked after the playoffs about how we can win in Washington."

I agree. That trade can’t really hurt the team. It’s essentially a minor trade. My initial reaction was that we were trading a guy (Della Rovere) who wasn’t likely to make the Caps roster this year for a guy (King) who has a much better chance.
Will an enforcer help us? Good question. I would not want an enforcer in the lineup who can only play 4 minutes a night and not offer us anything besides enforcing. (The Caps anticipate that King can do more than that.)
As for the CI thread, CStanton over there is almost always negative. Always sees the dark side on the Caps and is like that older sibling who says “I told you so” when things go wrong.

I’m curious to see what King can do in a good system. In 2007-8, he had 3 goals in 341:57 TOI. That was about the same production in the same time as Laing this season – the man whose spot he is likely taking. It’s also not far behind Boyd Gordon’s production. I think King could be capable of 6-8 goals this season, which is reasonable for a 4th liner. That does depend on how much TOI he gets though.
Never underrate the power of the hissy-cow.
Cstanton is stuck in the 1980’s mode of thinking about the Caps and cannot get it through his head that the Caps aren’t the ones he grew up with. Because he is stuck in that mode, he can’t think forward or see anything else, and he just wants things to go back to the way they were. It’s a sad state of affairs, really.
Hanlon's Razor: Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.
I don’t want to dredge up the enforcer/deterrent issue again, but yesterday I watched King’s fights on hockeyfights.com. The dude can flat out throw ‘em. He’s 18-4-5 (disclaimer: hockeyfights.com voting) in his regular season NHL fights. He attacks, is fearless, and throws absolute bombs with heavy hands. From a technical fighting perspective, he’s easily top 5 in the league. Reminds me of Colton Orr (but with more size) and Eric Godard (but with quicker hands and better balance).
Who knows if he’ll deter other teams from taking runs or potshots, but I guaranfuckingtee you the rest of the Caps are gonna love having this guy sitting on the bench with them.
I’ve decided the trade is more be about prtotecting the young guys so it can’t hurt. Perhaps others will be a little slower at trying to take a run at them and throw them off. I’m not so worried about the more seasoned players.

Sharks resigned Devin Setoguchi to a 2 year deal.

@RealKyper reports that’s wrong:
Sharks Devin Setoguchi gets 1.8M on his deal.

So Flash gets 2.7 and Seto gets 2/3 of that? Doug Wilson is a goddamn genius.

If I’m not mistaken, it’s a platform year thing. The proper comparison is Seto’s 1.8 Million salary against Flash’s 700+ K from last year. But I might be mistaken.

They can compare years in the NHL and with the team as well as the immediately prior years. Seto got hurt this year and it really killed his numbers, but his rookie year was better than Flash’s career year. There’s really not justification for Seto making less than Flash. The injury turned out to be a bit of luck for GMDW but I think the real issue was that Seto never filed for arbitration so GMDW didn’t have the threat of a ridiculous award over him (on the other hand, Seto could negotiate for an RFA offer sheet).

Was Seto eligible for arb? If not, that’s a pretty big misjudgment by his agent.
There has been very little news on the RFA offer sheet front. I wonder if a lawsuit for collusion will pop up in 3 years…

I actually don’t know if Seto was arb-eligible. I suspect he was not because he only had 2 years in the league.
Collusion is hard as shit to prove, or even plead, so I suspect it would be a waste of time. I’m not even sure what the NHLPA’s theory would be.

I also have really enjoyed the Jumping into Glass blog’s recent analysis.
As to Fehr vs Flash I find it promising that McPhee was willing to sign Fehr to two years. Shows a bit of faith in him I think.

yes. Wife still rocks the #32 I wore when I was in 6th grade. Still my favorite jersey (some 12 jersey’s later) !
During one of the games I went to last year, I saw a woman wearing a Dale Hunter jersey and she had a necklace with a number. It may have actually been #32, in honor of him. (Would have made sense.) Guess old Dale took #32 out of circulation so neither Semin nor Ovi could get it. (Ovi was #32 with Moscow Dynamo at one point and Semin was #32 at Togliatti Lada.)
BTW, my brother in law is a Tech Alum. And my younger daughter is now transferring there.
