In which Alex Ovechkin proves you can go home again.
He's working at his new job in Moscow today, suiting up for Dynamo, and hosting a Master Class for tomorrow's NHL and KHL future stars.
The "10" on his jersey is the year, and he's rocking his Caps gloves and Team Russia lid.

…or 2012-13… God forbid.
I am a hockey fan first, and a Caps fan second.

Sochi, here I come!

That’s… not what I had in mind…

His reputation precedes him.

AO going 5 hole
On a starstruck young goalie. You’ll note that’s not “Овечкин” on the back of that sweater. That’s M. Tyurkin – president of Moscow Dynamo and Ovi’s summer boss.

Only in Russia. Could you imagine all the Caps wearing sweaters with McPhee on the back or Dick Patrick or Leonsis. LOL.
No, but I can picture a Hershey Bear wearing a Joudreau.

Dynamo is very fortunate
Thanks for the sweet photos. It’s great that Ovie is giving back to the Dynamo club where his legendary career started. The young players are so lucky to have him as a mentor and guide during their formative years in hockey. Not only will their skills improve, but I’m certain Ovie’s passion for the game will rub off on many of them. The enthusiasm and innocence of the young players will also remind Ovie of how his career started, and perhaps provide him with some new motivation and renewed excitement for next season. It’s definitely a win-win situation for everyone concerned.

I thought Dynamo had folded?

Sorta. HC Dynamo Moscow consolidated with HC MVD and became UHC Dynamo.

Ah. So I guess they just kept Dynamo’s logo and whatnot. I wonder how MVD fans feel about that.

Obvious questions not yet answered here —
Is Ovie limited in what he can do by his contract?
Does he have to ask the Caps for permission to do this?
If he hits a rut and blows a knee (god forbid), I assume the Caps have an insurance policy?
Every bursted bubble has a glory! Each abysmal failure makes a point! Every glowing path that goes astray, shows you how to find a better way. So every time you stumble never grumble. Next time you'll bumble even less!
Players are allowed to skate in the off-season they just aren’t allowed to do other stuff like skydiving or skiing.
It’s sort of like “conditioning.”
I believe for any actual tournaments or real deal pro games they would need permission from the club and then whoever they are playing for has to provide insurance.
I look to the future because that's where I'm going to spend the rest of my life.
The Russian papers had a post-skate interview with Ovie (should be up on Alex Ovetjkin tonight or tomorrow) where essentially he said he won’t be doing much on the ice with Dynamo. Even today he limited his time to a half hour. He’s starting with strength conditioning once or twice a week now as he gets ready to start getting ready for another year in the grinder.

I wonder what the logos on the waist of the jersey are.
