The Captain was rocking a fresh new white Caps lid at a Moscow Dynamo soccer game. His good friend Denis Volodin scored the game winner but forgot to do the Ovie-style celebration he had promised.

You perhaps knew me better as "Your Nation's Capital." Same great commentary, now with 100% more transparency!
A dinette set from the 70s called; it wants its seat covers back.

yuck Ovie is still wearing those ugly pants he wore to the BMW event. I never thought I’d miss the ripped jeans.
Well, at least he’s moved on from what he wore when he started here in NA.
He arrived for one practice wearing a red Washington Nationals cap, a red T-shirt from his NHL draft, red pants and red sneakers.

That’s a great article. What happened to Farber since then—he’s recently seemed a bit sour on Ovi.
I found this interesting—his comparison of the strength of the two teams that Sid and Ovi joined. I have usually taken the position that Sid arrived near the end of the Pens rebuilding effort, one of the final pieces you might say. Whereas Ovi was really the first piece of the Caps rebuilding effort, one that still has a glaring hole.
The comparisons between Crosby, a magical 18-year-old surrounded by accomplished scorers on the slothful Pittsburgh Penguins, and Ovechkin, a 20-year-old jewel on a team brimming with effort but light on talent, are facile and not terribly enlightening. Playmaker versus scorer, conduit versus steamroller, Magic versus Bird, yada yada yada versus blah blah blah.
"I’m very happy to hear the news," Ovechkin said when he heard about Backstrom's longterm contract--"because he’s one of the top centers in the world, one of my best friends and we want to play together for a long time. He’s a guy who wants to stay in one place and be comfortable and win, just like me. We talk all the time about playing together, and we talked after the playoffs about how we can win in Washington."

Maybe I’m misreading it, but I thought the Pens team was much more complete than the Caps one in 2005. When I go back and look at the roster it amazes me how far the Caps have come in adding talent since then Ovi debuted.

This one is worse.
Still, Laddie in Red played better than his indefensible fashion faux pas of Daisy Duke jean shorts, which teammate Steve Eminger was obliged to confiscate.

The fact that you people care about what he’s wearing makes me sad.
"Don't mind WM...he's an all-around jerk."

Is this true that you’ve asked your friends after they’d score a goal to make a gesture as if they shot the puck?
“Yeah”
The Don Cherry futbol – hockey Euro celebration crossover cross-talk continues.
As I mentioned previously, I still hope Ovi puts his arms out like a wEagle and flies around after scoring sometime, or does a sliding belly flop with arms extended/gliding across the ice. Not that I’d like to see anyone have a stroke on the spot, but Cherry’s not a kid anymore…
