Definitely the best fight of the 3. SDR did a good job hanging in there after taking an early shot. He looks more comfortable fighting (no shock) and his balance really stood out to me. He looked like he was able to plant his feet and get leverage better than Bruess did. I’d love a chance to see these guys on a line together.

Bruess landed some very solid shots. Was suprised by his fighting skills. Both players were checking their face for blood when they skated to the box.
This started in the first period. Bruess checked SDR pretty hard, which led to a retaliatory SDR Slash-N-Yap behind the play. Delly is so fucking awesome. As the crowd was still murmuring about the Finley fight, he already had his gloves and stick dropped ready to fight before the linesman even dropped the puck on the faceoff.
If you watch the tale end of the Finley-Pisano fight you see Bruess and Eakin yapping and then the two of them slashing each other. You also see SDR approaching him and yapping as the video ends.
I believe that was the straw that broke the camels back. :)

Yeah you can see both checking for blood. Looks like Bruess may have gotten the better shots in but he also was more passive. He let SDR come in an initiate the contact and that’s always an easier way to get in a good shot. Not that you can blame him, self preservation is self preservation, but SDR seemed like the more comfortable fighter.

Finley and Pisano telegraphed their plans to fight when they stopped to chat on their way off the ice at the end of the first period. Then they dropped the gloves in the second.
Delly and Bruess had been working their way up to a clash most of the game/week, and I guess decided to use the Finley/Pisano throwdown as a appetizer. Their middleweight match was much better. We met one of the referees in the elevator later, and he was marveling that Delly threw three uppercuts – and landed them all. he also said that Della Rovere/Bruess would have been fined in an actual pro game for fighting prior to the puck drop.
You perhaps knew me better as "Your Nation's Capital." Same great commentary, now with 100% more transparency!
