Capitals Select Samuel Carrier

With the 176th pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, the Washington Capitals have selected Samuel Carrier, D, Lewiston (QMJHL). From the team's release:
Carrier, a native of Laval, Quebec, scored 10 goals and added 32 assists in 66 games for Lewiston in the QMJHL this past season. He led Lewiston defensemen in scoring and saw his point total jump from nine points (four goals, five assists) in his first year with Lewiston.

I’ll be curious to see how many teams end the day having picked at least one European, one American high school student, and at least one player from more than one Canadian junior league.
You have to appreciate the coverage the Caps’ scouting staff is showing here. KHL, QMJHL, OHL, Minnesota high school system — they’re certainly not ruling out any sources of players.
