Ovie doing the John Wall dance was hilarious. Same with Ted.
Can’t wait for the upcoming season. DC sports has a great future ahead.
If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions.

“I was happy, a 19-year old kid, to see people that I looked up to in the football side,” Wall said. “I watch hockey a little bit, basically [Ovechkin] and Sidney Crosby are the two best players, and Strasburg is one of the top young pitchers coming into the game now. To see those guys do it, we’re gonna try to bring the sports back in D.C. I’m gonna support those guys, see if I can try to go watch a couple of their games.”
Ovie, your English is fine. Use it. But it was probably an intentional decision by whoever made the video.
I LOL'd
My wife looked at me funny while I was watching and laughing…

Who’s John Wall?
"Don't mind WM...he's an all-around jerk."

I guess you don’t follow NBA basketball at all. They had their draft on Thursday night.

Snark a little. I really don’t know anything about basketball, but John Wall bullcrap has been forcefed down the DC sports scene’s collective throats so much that while I’ve heard a ton of “Omg, John Wall’s gonna turn the Wizard’s franchise around,” I’ve yet to hear anything else about him except his college. I don’t know his age, position, skillset, or anything. It’s not like I really care, it’s just been a collective radio and internet…for a lack of a better term, circle jerk regarding the kid.
Yeah, I can’t stand basketball.
"Don't mind WM...he's an all-around jerk."
But how do you feel about circle jerks?
(Yes, I know about the avatar hounding - just pretend mine is invisible.)
I haven’t paid close attention to basketball lately myself. But did learn a few things about him.
He went to Kentucky for one year and is a guard. He was born on September 6, 1990 in Raleigh, NC. He’s rated the #1 prospect for the year.
I used to go to an equal number of basketball and hockey games for the first few years after college graduation but eventually hockey won over basketball for my loyalty.

Why’s this so exciting? Why does this guy get an awesome welcome video? Is Кузнецов going to get an cool video and maybe a tricep or lat flexing dance?
I look to the future because that's where I'm going to spend the rest of my life.
Really? You don’t understand why this is exciting? I have to believe you meant that rhetorically and actually know what the Wizards have been through the last two years. This kid was a stud in the NCAA last year and head and shoulders a better talent than 100% of his draft class.
It’s one thing to not care, but you can’t deny that getting the #1 pick was an enormous boon for the team and, hopefully, the city sports scene.
Did you feel the same way when the Caps got Ovechkin?
I don’t like or follow basketball, but it’s pretty easy to see why a franchise and their fans would be so excited about getting the consensus #1 pick in the draft. Especially in a sport like basketball where one guy can make a much bigger difference than one player in hockey. This is clearly not comparable to a late first round pick by the Caps, even if you don’t care about the NBA.

I don’t care at all for basketball but I am excited for the Wizards and the city of DC.
What I’ve been reading is that both Strasburg and Wall are singular, franchise-making types of no. 1 picks. So with the example of Ovi and the Caps franchise, this town is ready to burst after the record-setting debut of Strasburg and now the arrival of Wall.
Someone with more basketball knowledge than I could explain the whys and wherefores, but from what I’ve been reading basketball is undergoing a shift in how the game is played and the point guard position is becoming the key piece in this shift. Also that Wall is viewed as a point guard, game-changer player of that magnitude. And he’s a character guy too—for a team in much need of some positive locker room vibes.
Truthfully I cannot believe how much I’ve picked up lately about basketball. I’m not sure I’m ready to buy tickets, but I guess I really love the idea of this town becoming a major player for the MLB and the NBA as well as the NHL. It just makes the whole DC sports scene incredibly vibrant.
BTW I think Ovi has got the best rhythm—nice with his wonderfully familiar grin. Strasburg’s and especially Ted’s rhythm, not so much. But fun video nonetheless.
"I’m very happy to hear the news," Ovechkin said when he heard about Backstrom's longterm contract--"because he’s one of the top centers in the world, one of my best friends and we want to play together for a long time. He’s a guy who wants to stay in one place and be comfortable and win, just like me. We talk all the time about playing together, and we talked after the playoffs about how we can win in Washington."
