lol, Varly and Brooks will have a laugh about that come October
It's The Wait for Red October. Except rather than Sean Connery, Alex Baldwin, and Sam Neill, it's George McPhee, Bruce Boudreau, and Alex Ovechkin.
Not Tom Clancy, but Gary Bettman. Not the Soviet Kremlin, but. . .well. . . .yeah, the Soviet Kremlin
Let’s hope so. Although there has been much talk on blog sites on how Varly’s talking about how dirty Canada is playing and says that even Brooksie was cross checking Ovi.
I would not be surprised if Varly and Brooksie do laugh about this after all. They’ll be on the same side then.

The only thing I’ve read from Varly is where he called out Perry and Downie. When specifically asked about Brooksie, Varly didn’t say anything. He talked about Downie again.
(Yes, I know about the avatar hounding - just pretend mine is invisible.)
Brooksie was mentioned in the article in the blog site:
But will admit the primary focus of his interview concerned Downie and Perry.

I took this translation with a grain of salt, and would like to see other translations before I take this piece as an accurate reflection of what Varly meant. I’m not sure Varly was calling out Brooks other than he played a tough physical game, and that picture is misleading. Downie was the major offender in that scrum, not Brooksie going after Ovi. I’m more bothered by what Varly said about Downie IF that is what he meant. I’m not worried at all about Varly and Brooksie’s relationship.
"I’m very happy to hear the news," Ovechkin said when he heard about Backstrom's longterm contract, "because he’s one of the top centers in the world, one of my best friends and we want to play together for a long time. He’s a guy who wants to stay in one place and be comfortable and win, just like me. We talk all the time about playing together, and we talked after the playoffs about how we can win in Washington."

There’s another translation at the site “Russian Machine Never Breaks” that discussed the same situation. There’s barely any mention of Brooksie in that one but certainly mention of Downie. Here’s the link:

BTW, I’m not too worried about the relationship between Varly and Brooksie. (It was that one translator that seemed to be.)
