Congratulations are in order for Capitals' prospect Stefan Della Rovere, who scored two goals tonight to lead his Barrie Colts to the OHL Eastern Conference title. Here he is with the Bobby Orr Trophy and OHL vice president Ted Baker.

I would be remiss without posting a few of the many accolades being heaped on Stefan tonight:
Captain Stefan Della Rovere, the team’s heart and soul and undisputed leader, quite simply dictated the outcome, and he did so without a peep of a word. Relying on actions instead of words, Della Rovere scored twice in the first period and played arguably his best game in a Colts uniform. “That’s just great leadership. That’s what your captain does,” [Head coach Marty] Williamson said. “He really did elevate his game. That’s true leadership.”Ontario Hockey League
“Delly’s just been dominant for the past three games,” Williamson said. “That’s just great leadership. That’s what your captain does. He stepped up and has been a force own low in the corners giving their defence a tough time. And he’s scored big goals for us. You just can’t say enough about his leadership.”

Note: This is just the OHL Eastern Conference championship. Next step are the OHL Finals, where the Colts will play the Western Conference champs, either the Kitchener Rangers or the Windsor Spitfires.

Hopefully they beat Windsor so I can actually watch him play in Memorial Cup.
It's all happening

I’d love to see them play the Spitfires just so SDR can show up Hall & Fowler, but I don’t see Windsor winning 3 in a row over the Rangers.

Yep. It is far more likely that Barrie will be playing the Kitchener Rangers, who have dominated the series. The Rangers beat the Spitfires three games in a row before Taylor Hall found his game and Windsor got one back. Right now the series stands 3-1 Kitchener, and they could clinch tonight.

Well, he’s got a best-of-seven league championship to play for, and then if things work out, a four-team best-of-seven tournament to determine the Canadian Hockey League champeens. With all luck (and skill, and heart, and grit), Delly will be able to put down the Memorial Cup and come play in Hershey sometime ’round the 24th of May.
