Varly defends Halak, thanks Jose (translation)

The first star of the game [Monday night in Montreal] Semyon Varlamov gave this interview to G. Boguslavsky of Sovetsky Sport.

-After the game in Washington, (6:5 in OT) you said that you were not happy with yourself, because you allowed three goals. How about now?

-The whole team played great. We capitalized on a manyof our chances. Although it is really hard to play in Montreal in front of such audience. You can not let up even for a second. Especially in the first period, when Canadians were pressing and had advantage.

-Did it seem to you that Montreal played too direct?

It can change from one game to the next. Tomorrow they may alter their attacking formation significantly.

-Did Theodore, who was left on the bench, give you any tips? Because he played for Montreal for a long time and knows the environment very well.

-Jose is awesome, I always feel his support. He cheers me up before the game. He was also helping me last year.

-Can you say that you have broken through and that Washington has found its game?

-I wouldn't rush to judgment. I am sure Montreal is not giving up. It's only 2-1 in the series. In the fourth game Canadians will be twice as ferocious. Only a win will do for them.

-From a goalie's perspective, can a statement like the one by Ovechkin about Halak's shaking hands get under a goalie's skin? After all, Jaroslav was benched after the third goal.

-Halak is a terrific goalie. And on this issue I will disagree with Ovechkin – everything is fine with my opponent's hands. Every goal Jaroslav allowed was very difficult to prevent. Either he was screened, or it was a rebound. He had no chance.
