Personally I believe this crap needs to be removed from the game, but based on the rules I do not see him being suspended.
- The hit was not a blind side hit
- Perrault was not hurt on the play…or atleast not enough. If he pulled a Gleason and stayed down for 2 minutes then Armstrong would have got 5 and a game.
What is scary is you can blantantly see Armstrong go for the head. It looks like he is going to miss the head and readjusts.

Brash would only grab Eric Boulton 15 minutes later.

3a. Mo’s not going to beat anyone in a fight. Tight 1-0 game, Ref didn’t call a penalty on the hit, so any instigator would have put us on the PK. If Armstrong turtles, that’s an additional 5 min against us. Sure, we don’t have much to play for right now, except confidence, but right now, confidence would be huge.
Had Matt not gotten up, I’m in complete agreement with you. What Mo did was the smart play (though, Ref’s dinged him for Holding… Clearly someone’s not paying attention.)..
If we have the east locked up the next time we play them, I’d dress QL or Walker just to take Armstrong’s head off.
Laing isn’t taking anyone’s head off. At least not in the NHL.
I have to go. But if I find one single dog hair when I get back, I'll rub... sand... in your dead little eyes. I also need you to buy sand. I don't know if they grade it, but... coarse.

I didn’t think he should fight, but he shouldn’t have gotten that penalty. Upon further review the refs really f’ed that one up. Should have been a major on Armstrong, probably nothing on mo. My guess is they were waiting for him to be an instigator, it didn’t happen so they just pulled something out of their ass.
Suspend Colin Campbell!
I could see him being suspended for the same reason that Green was suspended. It’s not because of the new rule adjustments, it’s because it’s a blatant head shot that’s not a hockey play. Big difference between Green’s hit and this hit is that Perrault had the puck, but Armstrong targeted his head with his arm, not with his body.
I could see it happening, but I’m not holding my breath on this one.
Suspend Colin Campbell!
And it’s clearly an elbow.

It's not an elbow...
…it’s a clothesline. And a blatant cheapshot. Suspension-worthy? Eh, possibly. Not a blind-sider though, so not as much of a chance at injury. But definitely a cheapshot.
When an attempt to hit the head is so blatant as that one I think it’s suspension worthy every single time, regardless of injury or lack thereof.

A chance for the league to send a message. No major injury. Wasn’t as bad as it could have been (maybe a certain panther needs to watch this vid to learn how to keep his head up)…
But intent is clear in that image. Matty P is NEVER as tall as Armstrong’s arm. It’s not like he ducked and got his head there, he was trying to avoid what was absolutely a shot to the head. Back, and to the left. Back, and to the left. Clearly there was a 2nd fore-checker in the grassy pressbox.
So, since this could allow the league to set precedent based on their new headshot rule…we should all expect them to do nothing.

Isn’t she great? I love the cameraman for finding her.

I’d do it myself but for some reason neither gifsoup nor gickr are working for me right now.

Refs can only go to video on goals, right?
If they can go for other things, I think they need to be allowed to at their discretion to get calls like this right. Someone missed something and a lot of the time I think they know they got it wrong and they have to go with their gut. A short video review of a cheap shot would reveal that this shouldn’t be 2 for roughing it should be 5 for elbowing, possibly with a 10 to go along with it.
Suspend Colin Campbell!
Had MP not tried to dodge that he would have been knocked out.

Atta Buy to Colby Armstrong
“Obviously, I’m disappointed,” Armstrong told the AJC. “I feel terrible about it. The timing of it because of our position as a team and also personally for myself. It’s one thing that my dad always told me when I learned out to hit, you never reach for a guy like that. I just got caught where he was dodging out of the way and I reached for him and I made a mistake. The good thing is there was no injury on the play.” (from Capitals Insider)
Well, I am not an Armstrong fan, but I must say that I do like it when a player admits he made a mistake and takes his punishment.

Lip service and nothing more. I look at it as nothing more than insincere bullshit, especially considering his post game comments.
