very sad. Dynamo has such history, stretching back to the Soviet days.

Wow...
Considering that Dynamo Moscow was the “KGB” team back in the USSR (much like Red Army was the army team, Torpedo was the Navy team, Soviet Wings was the Air Force team) and Putin is former KGB…
Let's go Caps!
Red Army was CKSA, right?

devastating to the league as a whole, i’d think. and does this include dynamo’s soccer club also? (where AO’s dad played.)
his mom managed Dymano’s women basketball program. not sure if she still does.

Just another oligarch got pissed that all his money was going down the drain and pulled the plug on the team… wonder where Hudler ends up next year?
Also, not to nitpick, but Dynamo was always the team of the Interior Ministry – their nickname was “менты” which loosely translates as… well, just pick your favorite derogatory term for the police. KGB never got into sports, they had a bigger fish to fry! ;-) CSKA was the Armed Forces team, as well as all regional SKA teams, with “C” for “Central” as in Moscow…
And, since we are on the subject, Soviet Wings was not an Air force team, but rather aerospace industry subsidiary… And here is the funniest one: Torpedo – not a Navy team, as one may naturally assume… Each Torpedo team belonged to an automaker! The only one in hockey I can think of was in Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod), which used to make Volgas. Yes, they used to make cars in the USSR… then the country fell apart and all auto engineers went to work for… you guessed it, GM! ;-)
Hudler is widely rumored to be back in Detroit next season.

they are spending like $23,000,000 for their top five forwards… plus, Abdelcader, Miller, Helm are all RFAs… looks tough for the Wings to take him back, unless he gives them a serious discount
I think he’s an RFA still. They could get him on the cheap.

He went through arbitration. They’re on the hook for something like 2.8 mil for 2 years on him.
