Any year you don’t win the World Series, it’s a failure.
—Derek Jeter
I love that mindset. If team keeps that 2nd place is the first loser attitude than we’re in good shape.

Prayer
Now we need a game day prayer……I like to picture Jesus as a figure skater. He wears like a white outfit, and He does interpretive ice dances of my life’s journey, and “just win”

please, figure skater’s don’t say they want to win, it’s all “I just want to go out there and do my best” or “give it my all and not worry about the things out of my control”

Because it is out of their control. They can’t directly effect the opponent, only a judge can. But I’ll keep this on topic and not rant about figure skating, haha.

Thank you for the subject line. I minimized that as fast as possible.

The primary difference being that Jeter’s statement is obvious, since his club is allowed to maintain a payroll that is $100 million more than all but a handful of teams.

I know that but I’m a Yankees fan and the point is the same. We’re the best and we should win the championship, if we don’t it’s a failure.

Intense Matt Bradley is intense.
Honestly, I am not that surprised with comments like this from the team. I think most of them feel this way. I’d say both the Capitals and the Sharks need vindication by way of Lord Stanley before they are considering the best

Yea, I just rewatched the Brads fighting to make sure Ovie doesn’t. I love that man. He’s a grinder for sure, but he’s a great person and man he has guts.

nobody who wins their conference/presidents trophy will consider anything less than a stanley cup win a failure. thats the right attitude.
the reality is that, while not winning it all would be a supreme dissapointment, this teams best years are still ahead of them. can’t say that about all of the top teams…

very good perspective…still, who knows what those years will come. Gotta get it while the getting’s good!

oh, agreed. just sayin’ that this team is on the way up and while nothing is guaranteed, the future is bright. better than some teams who have maybe one or two years to win.

Great-fuckin-attitude. I’m glad to see it. They’re going to play balls-to-the-wall.

You would have thought that the Sharks would come out the same way, though.

their fans were booing them ever since they let in the first goal though. that better not happen in DC, ill personally bitch slap everyone at the verizon center.

In past years I would disagree (considering it was usually a feat that we were even in the playoffs) but I agree with Brads. I just hope this is good motivating pressure and not holy-shit-this-is-daunting pressure!

Rec’d as always.
John Carlson killed Canada, but that’s a small task compared to saving Tom Poti’s plus/minus.

Tom Poti’s plus/minus doesn’t need to be saved. Now, other aspects of his game….

He has magic ES powers, as I see Becca put it. Just his PK needs work, and I’m not so sure Carlson will get paired with 3 on the PK (I doubt it a lot) and moreover a good PP (like MTL’s) will isolate Poti and create a 2-on-1, which I think is the objective of a PP aside from scoring.

I would modify that slightly
Because a SCF appearance would still be something this team could build on. I don’t expect any of the players to back that sentiment, though.
Russian Machine very rarely breaks. Oh and f**k Brooks Orpik.
That's my thoughts...
An advancement to the Finals is better than what we accomplished last year.
But being the best team in the league, obviously expectations are high and not only the team but the rest of the league expect us to win the Cup.
Its fine for the players to have a First or Last mentality as long as it keep them competetive.
For fans we should stay on the “as long as we do better than last year!” mentality. If we don’t make it to the Conference Finals I would consider this season a failure, and if we lose without going to game 7 – a disappointment.
Bruce Boudreau when asked about Brooks Laich's return to the lineup, he said: "He just adds another dimension to our team. If it was puzzle, he just fits that thing. He completes us."
That's always crushing
You don’t want to see someone else carry the Cup especially on your own rink.
erskine has scored...now i can die in peace
I was spared than in 98. Only went to game 3….would of been cool to see the cup though

Well, I entered this event and I only enter events to win. I didn’t get it done…I finished fourth, not what I wanted.
