It felt like shoulder-to-shoulder.

My. Ass.
Only one person knows for sure whether Cooke was targeting Savard’s head, and that is Matt Cooke. But the idea that Cooke could possibly have thought that he hit Savardin the shoulder after the contact is absolutely incredible. A guy’s head snapping to the left feels like hitting a shoulder with 200 or so pounds of weight attached to it. What a joke.
Cooke loses the credibility game here — not that he ever had a chance of winning it.
But it’s a special kind of porcupine the [Lemieux]-ing kind….

With a suspension already in the books, Cooke will get 5 plus. Too bad he’ll miss the BOS rematch where he’d have to answer for his completely gutless cheap shot. I’d enjoy watching Looch pound his face in.
Driving under the influence of hockey since godknow's when.
Cooke’s been to the Wheel of Justice three times for this sort of [Gretzky] three times now. He’s getting 5 or more if there is any logic.
Did I just type that? There’s no logic in it. For doing what he did and being a repeat offender, he should get 10.

I say give him 4 games (because the 5th game from now is in Boston). Then let him answer to Thornton or whoever wants to take it.
Then again, Cooke did take shifts after that hit, and no Bruin had the heart to do anything. They may have been worried about instigators or trying to win the game, but still you gotta step to the man in that situation.
Wayne Gretzky had it wrong: 100% of the shots Gary Roberts doesn't take DO go in.
It could have been settled there, but I think the main focus for the Pens at the time was getting the W. Playoff positioning is key right now. Winning the Atlantic is a second seed and an opening match up with one of the second tier teams in the East. Finishing second in the Atlantic gets you in the 4-5 match up and a game with one of the better teams in the East, the Northeast runner up. And then, if the division winners hold serve, you advance to play the top seed….

No doubt the Pens and Cooke were going about their business, but when a known dirty player sends arguably your best forward off on a stretcher, where’s the response from Boston? I get that they’re trying to win too, but a lot of Bruins fans are disappointed no one for their team stepped up.

Boston already lost one player (Savard), they didn’t need to lose a second for a fighting major or misconduct or for a game misconduct when they’re fighting for their playoff lives. I see both sides of it.
Kung-fu Rink Rabbit
The Blood Cult of Matt Bradley. Tune in Wednesday when Japers Rink offers their first burnt offering to Matt Bradley to give him an endless supply of the blood for his strident ways.
And then again there’s a serious question about whether Cooke will even want to take his medicine. He’ll decline Thornton, Chara, Lucic, maybe Marco Sturm will get a chance.
Killer_Carlson and Steckel Me Elmo are like brothers to me. And when I say brothers I don't mean like actual brothers. I mean it like how black people use it, which is more meaningful, I think.
It’s a known fact that Cooke flaps his gums more than anything and probably turns down more fights than in the NHL, but Cooke will fight if someone from Boston challenges him. —Again my note he took shifts after the Savard hit and no one stepped to him.
Cooke did fight Callahan after the hit on Anisimov Cooke actually answered the bell the same night as the hit. Cooke did duck Orr that night, but that’s a big step in weight classes, I don’t really have an issue with that. I would guess Cooke won’t go with Chara, but I think he owes it to a guy like Thornton, who’s not THAT much bigger than him but still a legit scrapper.
