No, this doesn’t count until next year, and they’re at a low number there (28) at the moment.

I assume its a 2 way deal. He can do a great job teaching the young centers the Caps have that will be most likely be coming through Hershey in the next couple of years like Macken, Angus, Broda. In a pinch he can be called up and won’t look out of place on an NHL sheet of ice.

I’m surprised a player like Aucoin would play one a two-way contract (where he must make less than ~$100k or be subjected to re-entry waivers) when guys like him have done well financially in Europe. Perhaps he doesn’t want to move his family over there or hasn’t totally given up on the NHL dream, but it’s interesting to me he’s chosen the AHL rather thank likely making more $$ overseasa.
Wayne Gretzky had it wrong: 100% of the shots Gary Roberts doesn't take DO go in.
Caps have paid Giroux a big salary (half a mil) and it wouldn’t surprise me if Aucoin makes quite a lot more than 100k next year.
Aucoin’s last contract was two-way the first year, and one-way (at league minimum) this year.

You assume correctly – it’s a two-way deal.

honestly, if my option is continue to be a team leader in Hershey and see the occasional call-up duty in DC, or move overseas for the money, I’d give some serious consideration to a two-way deal with DC/Hershey.

The Blood Cult of Matt Bradley. Tune in Wednesday when Japers Rink offers their first burnt offering to Matt Bradley to give him an endless supply of the blood for his strident ways.
It’s hard to believe that no NHL team wants to give him a full time chance? I mean scoring 84 pts, even if it’s the ahl, has to give you some kind of shot in the big clubs.
He’s a 31 year old who’s played 74 games in the NHL over 5 seasons, one season of which he got in 38 games (with the Canes in 2007-08). That’s about as close to a chance as he would probably get.
In keeping with club policy
were going to make you google this publically available salary information.

Just trying to capture the spirit of the thing...

TWO-WAY CONTRACT EXEMPTIONS REGARDING RE-ENTRY WAIVERS
Players on two-way contracts may be exempt from re-entry waivers (recalled from AHL to NHL) depending upon their AHL salary, and the number of professional-level games played previously.
Any player signed to a two-way standard player contract (SPC), whose waiver exemption provided under terms of their first SPC no longer applies, is exempt from re-entry waivers if the following conditions have been met:
•The player’s AHL salary is less than $105,000
•The player appeared in less than 40 NHL games the previous season, including playoffs
•The player appeared in less than 80 NHL games the previous two seasons, including playoffs
•If the player is a goaltender, he has played in less than 180 professional (NHL/AHL/ECHL) games in his career, including playoffs
•If the player is a forward or defenseman, he has played in less than 320 professional (NHL/AHL/ECHL) games, including playoffs
