You know it. Finishing of the trilogy tonight.

Good flick. Good mythology. In a vacuum, it’s great, but as an Indiana Jones flick, it’s a little hokey.

I liked the stuff with Connery…thought it was good in that respect. I would definitely list it number 2 after Raiders (with Temple of Doom at 3, and The Crystal Skull at 10,000).

Crystal Skull was so bad. It was like Edmonton Oilers awful.

One of the five worst movies ive EVER seen. I saw it on my first date with my ex-girlfriend, so it was a pretty good metaphor for how the relationship turned out.

I rented it when it was released on DVD and merely turned it off when I found out there were aliens. Awful.

Eh, it was bad, but in a hokey way. I couldn’t resist watching Harrison Ford recreate a role from 20 years earlier. It’s not like it was ruining my childhood memories or anything.

Agreed (though I refused to see Crystal Skull – wouldn’t be party to that degree of franchisicide).

franchisicide… I like it.

The Indiana Jones movies absolutely LOVE the wilhelm scream. I hear it so often.

I watched The Professional over the weekend. I wasn’t really impressed, but young Natalie Portman was pretty damn impressive. I now only have to watch Sunset Blvd. and Paths of Glory to have seen the top 50 of IMDb’s top 250.

I didn’t say I disliked it, I just don’t see anything that special about it. Not top 50 worthy IMO. Of course there are some suspect choices in IMDb’s top 250.

Was that at my IMDb comment? If so then I agree. Avatar is listed at 63; way too high. Recent, hyped movies always jump up high on that list and then sink down once the hype wears off. I still think the Dark Knight needs to me lower.

Finally watched Inglourious Basterds last night. It was good, but I wasn’t blown away. Pretty standard Tarantino.

still in search of a decent BLT in Silver Spring. Sigh. Although I did make mozzarella, prosciutto, and tomato paninis yesterday, which moderately satisfied my craving.

I think this belongs here, rather than the clips thread. Via the Sports Bog, Ted spoke about owning the Wizards on the Junkies this morning.
I watched the Wizards game last night," he noted. "I was very pleased. It didn’t go the team’s way at the end, but boy, young kids, lots of energy, playing with heart and passion. We’re in very productive conversations with the Pollin family and estate and I won’t change my messaging: we already own 44 percent, we have lots of rights, the conversations are positive. And I’m expecting that sometime, hopefully soon, we’ll be announced as the majority owners of the team, and we’ll do our best to continue to build a team that everyone’s proud of.

Very surprised Hurt Locker won best picture. I thought it was good, but wasn’t blown away (no pun intended) by it.

I enjoyed it, but I think I would agree with you. I was, however, biased because it was the first movie I watched with my new sound system. During some of the loud explosions, my sub woofer almost brought down my apartment building. Pretty awesome.

In the book department, I went for fluff and the latest J.D. Robb novel, Fantasy in Death last night. I showed admirable restraint, and only got about halfway through the book before going to bed. This is not to say that it isn’t as good as Robb’s earlier offerings in the series, but I was beat last night! I’m sure I’ll finish it off tonight. It’s been a pretty good read, for a fluff series, so far. :-)

It’s time for me to hit the used bookstores up for some more Shakespeare. Henry Whichever notwithstanding, I’m out of paperbacks, and my Complete Works is way too huge for casual reading…

i love Shakespeare.
one summer, during my high school years, i went to the local library and borrowed a bunch of his plays. Macbeth, Hamlet, King Lear, Tempest, and Winter’s Tale were all really good, but i couldn’t get into Othello.
