Agree. Yet, seriously excited to see the Caps play some hockey.
Sometimes, you really just want to hit a b**ch.
The game is on Versus nationally and CSN locally – the VS broadcast is using the CSN feed so it’s Joe B and Locker worldwide.
Now helping to keep an eye on all things Gr8 at Alex Ovetjkin.
Unless you live outside the area and have DTV. So pissed Versus picked up this game.

I hear NHL Center Ice is free on all channels this week. At least I could get it on Cox Fairfax Cty last night. Maybe you can get that?
I have Centre Ice package. Game is on Versus except in DC area.
"You ever use smelling salts, every time you type a bad blog?" Brooks Laich
Sorry, brother. Would be just like Bettman’s NHL to continue to have the DTV-VS fuck-up continuing following the Olympic wave.
Like me. Only I have directv AND gamecenter. Only the gamecenter feed will be blacked out because it’s on Versus, which I don’t get on DTV.
My head might explode.
DC Landing Strip - Waxed and Ready to Go
I would like to personally thank Bettman for being an absolutely worthless pansy during this whole thing. “It’s complicated” is not the response that inspires any sort of confidence in your fans that are getting bent over and violated by two media companies.
Show me any other sport where the league would put up with what Comcast and DirecTV are doing to the fanbase. You can’t. Bettman is a spineless, useless douchenozzle.
/stepping off my soapbox
Show me any other sport where the league would put up with what Comcast and DirecTV are doing to the fanbase. You can’t.
It’s not about the fact that the league wouldn’t put up with it, it’s that the satellite subscribers wouldn’t put up with it.

to some extent, yes, but any other league would be exerting pressure on both sides to get a deal done not standing by doing nothing
not standing by doing nothing
We don’t know if this is what the NHL is doing.

They aren’t. They have clearly sided with Versus (Comcast). Between Snider being an owner, Versus being their carrier, and the craariage issue involved they have made it clear they see DTV as the problem. Just listen to every statement Bettmann has made on the issue.

18 and 24… Walker and Belanger, or other way around?
i’m not gonna be so happy if Juice changes to 68
Juice will surely go back to 23. 68 was a protest number specific to the Olympics and it must’ve felt really good to beat the Russians while wearing it.
Now helping to keep an eye on all things Gr8 at Alex Ovetjkin.
And Belanger will wear 18, as Chimera already wears his 25.
Now helping to keep an eye on all things Gr8 at Alex Ovetjkin.
So (once everyone is in town and healthy), either Fehr or Chimera is going to be on our fourth line, either Walker or Bradley is a scratch, our top four D-men are Green, Schultz, Poti, and Corvo, and our last d-pairing has Milan Jurcina on it.
We look a lot better than we did yesterday, don’t we?
by sixsevenfiftysix on Mar 3, 2010 6:10 PM EST up reply actions
I don’t think Walker comes in and supplants Fehr on the 3rd line. The real question is Chimera. He’s been great on the 3rd, but he may end up a 4th liner.
Oh yeah, Walker isn’t on the third line, I know.
by sixsevenfiftysix on Mar 3, 2010 6:15 PM EST up reply actions
Chimera is not a 4th liner. A guy that scores like he does would be wasted on the 4th line.
"You ever use smelling salts, every time you type a bad blog?" Brooks Laich
So Fehr for 4th line? Or am I forgetting a possible scenario?
by sixsevenfiftysix on Mar 3, 2010 6:17 PM EST up reply actions
They play opposite wings. More likely its Walker going down to 4th. Which I like. he can always get an extra shift here or there is needed, plus save him for some PK duty.
"You ever use smelling salts, every time you type a bad blog?" Brooks Laich
I was assuming your top five wingers (in any combination, doesn’t matter) were obviously: Ovechkin, Knuble, Semin, Laich, and Flash. That means that either Chimera or Fehr can’t be on the third line.
by sixsevenfiftysix on Mar 3, 2010 6:21 PM EST up reply actions
I don’t think Walker plays unless Brads needs a night off.
I should have saved my old signature. Oh well!
Agreed. But I hope BB just gives guys a night off regularly down the stretch. Keep them a little fresher. No need to bang ’em up and burn ’em out with such a huge conference lead.
Killer_Carlson and Steckel Me Elmo are like brothers to me. And when I say brothers I don't mean like actual brothers. I mean it like how black people use it, which is more meaningful, I think.
Laich can play any forward position.
"You ever use smelling salts, every time you type a bad blog?" Brooks Laich
2nd or 3rd line depending on what combos you want. A lot of parts on 3nd and 3rd lines are interchangeable. Semin is the only lock for the 2nd line.
"You ever use smelling salts, every time you type a bad blog?" Brooks Laich
Each brings a different skill set. For the playoffs Laich & Chimera rank a bit higher. The order you listed them in is probably the order I put them in.
Here is a possible sample lineup for you.
Ovi-Baks-Knuble
Laich-BMo-Semin
Chimera-Belanger-Flash
Brads-Steckel-Walker
Green/Schultz
Poti/Corvo
Erskine/ShaMo
Varly/Theo
"You ever use smelling salts, every time you type a bad blog?" Brooks Laich
I’d have Fehr on this lineup over Brads, even on the 4th.
by sixsevenfiftysix on Mar 3, 2010 6:33 PM EST up reply actions
For the 4th line, you at least want some defensive ability in lieu of offensive ability. I don’t think you put Fehr in there unless he turns a 180 in terms of how he has played defensively.
Fehr has been very reliable defensively, he’s a +14 on the 3rd line getting 12ATOI. That is something.
180 turn is a bit drastic.
He needs a bit of work still defensively, but not 180. It is why BB gets frustrated with him though. Of course, same could be said for Flash, and yet he never seems to get reprimanded.
"You ever use smelling salts, every time you type a bad blog?" Brooks Laich
I scratched Fehr on due to BB’s lack of love for the guy.
I believe this is what serious depth up front looks like. I’d hate to be the other team’s defenders and goalies. No rest for the weary.
"You ever use smelling salts, every time you type a bad blog?" Brooks Laich
I think if the team were planning on scratching Fehr in their best-case lineup they probably would’ve moved him.
by sixsevenfiftysix on Mar 3, 2010 6:35 PM EST up reply actions
I actually think they may have tried to.
"You ever use smelling salts, every time you type a bad blog?" Brooks Laich
I think it’s pretty safe to say that if this team literally wasn’t going to use Fehr any more, we’d have been happy to take a low pick for him (which teams absolutely would’ve offered).
by sixsevenfiftysix on Mar 3, 2010 6:39 PM EST up reply actions
I didn’t mean it that way. I think they would have moved him for Hamhuis if that was all Nashville wanted. I get the impression that Poile wanted more and that he really didn’t want to deal Hamhuis in the 1st place.
"You ever use smelling salts, every time you type a bad blog?" Brooks Laich
Also, if we’re saying “everyone’s healthy”, Jurcina has to be on there instead of Erskine, right? And in the playoffs, maybe Alzner over ShaMo?
by sixsevenfiftysix on Mar 3, 2010 6:34 PM EST up reply actions
You natural LW’s playing RW
and natural RW’s playing LW
Fehr has been one of most productive Caps per minute played. Why is he scratched, if the goal is to play your best 12?
Because of how BB has treated Fehr. He gets shuttled in and out of the lineup. Not treated like goal scorer.
You are right on wingers. I just typed quickly and only paid attention to centers.
"You ever use smelling salts, every time you type a bad blog?" Brooks Laich
BB has only healthy scratched Fehr once.
Ovi/Backstrom/Knuble
Laich/B.Mo/Semin
Flash/Belanger/Fehr
Chimera/Steckel/Walker/Bradley
Green/Schultz
Corvo/Poti
Morrisonn/Alzner
This is what I’m thinking, with Juice in there for Morrisonn when able.
by sixsevenfiftysix on Mar 3, 2010 6:43 PM EST up reply actions
I like that except.
Walker/Steckel/Bradley.
But those are some seriously stacked lines.
Bah-Ram-Ewe, Ovechkin will wreck you. Fear the Furious Fleece!
Wait, you have Chimmer as a healthy scratch behind Walker and Bradley?
by sixsevenfiftysix on Mar 3, 2010 6:44 PM EST up reply actions
Oh oh, ok. Yeah, I’m thinking about the best case scenario right now.
by sixsevenfiftysix on Mar 3, 2010 6:45 PM EST up reply actions
Ah ok, as for best case scenario, i am torn.
I want Chimmer in the line up, but I think he should be higher than the 4th line.
But then again, if he can add to that line, and help it produce, then the team is in amazing shape for the Play offs
Bah-Ram-Ewe, Ovechkin will wreck you. Fear the Furious Fleece!
Yeah. It’s like, we have 10 guys that should absolutely be on a top three line. Good problem to have.
by sixsevenfiftysix on Mar 3, 2010 6:48 PM EST up reply actions
I seem to recall it being more. Even if we say its only one, I think you’d agree that BB yanks him around more than anyone else but the spare parts like Laing & Sloan. Check out his TOI numbers.
"You ever use smelling salts, every time you type a bad blog?" Brooks Laich
Fehr has played 51 games. He has missed 11 games. 10 due to recovering from off season shoulder surgeries and 1 for being a healthy scratch.
Juice on IR for a few weeks with a hernia. Wonder if Johnny stays up for a while.

I also wanted to note that Johnson’s agent, Allan Walsh, is the guy who broke that RFA offer sheet fiasco that took place in Chicago this summer. If ever there was a guy who might publicly mock the Oilers with inside information, it’s him. We can only hope.
Man I’m glad I’m not an EDM fan.
