Just gotta say today has been anticlimactic so far. Aaron Ward and Denis Seidenberg are the big names moving? And Derek Morris, AGAIN? This sucks.
On TSN they were saying that at this time of day last year, there were two trades so far. There ended up being 25. We already have four or five this year.

Is it me or does it seem like there are fewer sellers and more buyers this year?
That alone could be slowing the whole process down.

What GMGM is looking for, according to other GMs
TEB noted yesterday at CI that the other GMs around the league have reported that GMGM is calling about veteran defense and a scoring line center.
This all comports with what we’ve noted and speculated about.
It specifically runs contrary to the Vokoun speculation that’s out there.
Make of that what you will…

When you’re below the Medoza line of PK Pct (.800) everyone can shoulder a bit of the blame.
A D upgrade would be very nice, though, and specifically a D that helps on the PK.
I worry that you’re right that it’s systemic and not personnel-related problems; that’s not good.

Wow, big move for PHX to add offense. Not sure if I like the deal for Colorado. Doesn’t help them this year and it’s certainly not a sure thing that either of those guys even reach Wolski’s level. If Mueller benefits from a change of scenery though it could be a big steal.

White flag from Colorado? They realized they’re not that good, and want to sell high, in other words?
Or have they just had enough of Wolski, for some reason?

Driving under the influence of hockey since godknow's when.
Well, there might be another explanation for it. Mueller does have a ton of potential, or appears to, anyway.
But I’m having a hard time coming up with another explanation.
If COL’s thinking is that they’re going to make the playoffs regardless, but probably not go deep, I like the thought that they try and upgrade where they can. I’m not all that enamored of Wolski, myself.
Dunno, though. This is a tough one.

Agreed—hard to figure out, unless more moves come.
Driving under the influence of hockey since godknow's when.
Per below, Wolski’s going to arb, and is going to get a bigger number than the Avs want to deal with.
But I do take this as a sign that the Avs don’t like him. Super-talented hands, but soft, soft, soft.

Wolski’s an enigma. He’s got mad skills, but simply disappears for games at a time. I think that prevents him from ever being a top-line guy, but his stats will get him paid like one.
Also, the TSN guys are saying that Tippett will somehow “get the most out of him.” Yeah, because Quenneville is teh sukk.

I think Fehr plays a style that is more likely to have playoff success, and I’m not convinced Flash will be more than a 20 goal scorer. We don’t need a 20 goal scorer that is soft right now. We’ve got skill-only guys that are better than Flash.
