“We’re at the arena and in the room no later than an hour and 15 minutes before game time. A lot of guys drink coffee before the game. We usually get a coffee and, you know, sort of hang out and talk about the game and the characters that are involved in the game that night, the players that are involved. And what the game means to both teams.”
I can just Imagine those conversations……..
McCreary: Watch out for those caps Don, That Semin is a diver
Koharski: I know, and we have to call at least one bad penalty on that Dirty Ovechkin, maybe a bogus boarding or something….

Also, the Yankees won the World Series, and the Saints won the Superbowl.
Sorry, but the McCreary retirement is really old news.

indeed it is, but do you really have nothing better to do than to troll japers, mr penguins fan :P

Didn’t really see it as trolling, just being a little picky, I guess.

japers is so happening, so much activity, it just seemed odd to post a story nearly a year old (no offense intended to red army line). I guess I was still steamed about the Terps blowing their game today.

Maybe red army line doesn’t know every little bit of info and though he would link to a new, interesting story.

You know what, you're right.
Even if the announcement itself happened earlier, it was still a new story that might have had some more updated info or a fresh take on the subject, and it got a little discussion going here. My foul, lesson learned.

Ehh, I can see where you’re coming from, as I really did think it was closer to news than old information. Reading the articles this one is definitely more focused on this impending retirement. (FWIW, I’d half forgotten Selanne is going to retire after this season, so maybe my memory is just bad).

I was out of line. Just looking for any opportunity to link to a story from last year’s SCF Game 7.

Hmm, I hadn’t seen that nor heard about this before. Guess it is old news.

McCreary is not alone...
There are several referees slated to hang up their whistle at the end of the regular season this year.
Kerry Fraser
Dan Marouelli
Bill McCreary
Mark Pare
Lyle Seitz
They have not yet announced final games – it’s supposed to be on the NHLOA News when they do.

Seems like a high number for one season no?
I wonder if all seasons have stories/footage of refs penalizing players essentially before the game starts, and charts about home vs away game calls broken down by ref…
I don’t know, but the game summaries detail all penalties called and who the referees on the ice were… I’m trying – I’ve been trying since last season – to compile that information into a database, but it’s a pain in the a$$.
