More backhanded talk about Ovi
Even when someone's "defending' Ovechkin, they just can't resist calling him dirty, can they?

Eg, the Roenick quote doesn’t bother me because I know he likes and appreciates Ovechkin. But I do hate the way “dirty” is thrown around much too loosely. To me dirty means a cheap shot, intent to injure, malice, and thus AO is absolutely not dirty. But it seems many people will use dirty as simply the opposite of clean and thus the borderline and careless hits that Ovechkin has dealt get deemed dirty. Annoying but not sure what you can do about it. No one can honestly put Ovie in the same class as Cooke.

Yeah. I don’t think anyone’s going to accuse JR of having a scholar’s grasp of the language. The gist of his statement is one we’d probably agree with – Ovechkin isn’t like the thugs, and the thugs are the problem.

Problem is, that’s not how those who are looking to tag him “dirty” are going to see it.

Well, that certainly didn’t do him any favors, but there’s no convincing people who think he’s dirty, anyway, likely. I’d also take JR’s usage of “dirty” with a grain of salt. I doubt “dirty” is a bad thing in his book.

“dirty” is probably an outright compliment on JR’s world.
