I still say (and did in the other thread) that the face that Hank only put up like one point, and Crosby and Stamkos got nothing while Ovi was out, is as clear a comment from the hockey gods as you will ever find.

Yeah I get that, few of us just think that a good performance should be a reason NOT to pick the very next game to sit the guy. Clearly he’s trying to give everyone a rest at some point, he’s already done it with Schultz and Poti as well, but maybe pick another game and not the one right after he potted 2.

I am thinking this is what BB is doing. The biggest thing for the team to do right now is to get a feel for the lines, work out the kinks, not get injured, and stay cool.
In a few weeks, when other teams are tired from having to play teams dying to get into the play-offs, most of the Caps roster will be sufficiently rested, and ready to light some goalies up.

Yeah I have no issues with rotating players at all, just hate to kill any momentum a player might have going by sitting them a game. We never know who might have minor little injuries that could use a day off or two as well that we just don’t hear about.

I agree with you, except I think this might be BB’s last game of experimentation, and the Pens game will be the day to set the playoff lineup and stick with it. So it’s his last chance to try out whatever the hell it is he’s trying out (3-4? We know that’ll be awesome). So if Corvo was going to be scratched at all, today’s the last chance? I’m hoping that’s it, but I obviously don’t know what’s going on inside coach’s head.

I could see that, but given our lead in the East and our decent cushion for the Pres, I think he’ll have a little more time. It’s pretty clear who our top 6 D are going to be anyways already in my mind. The 3rd and 4th forward lines are a different story.

Yup. It’s about fairness. It’s about managing expectations. It sends a signal: if Bruce can bench the new guy — the 25-minute guy the team just traded for so he needs to play to adjust — after a 2-goal effort, then he can bench anyone at any time.

Maybe Bruce is trying to kick-start Steckel’s offense…seeing him last year and especially against the Pens in the postseason you’d have to think he has the potential to be a 15 goal maybe in a 20 goal a year guy. For whatever reason he just hasn’t had that spark this year even if he’s been solid in other areas.
We have a little cushion, might as well use it to see what we have going forward or in certain possible injury scenarios.

Missy I am very appreciative of Sedin’s season, but we are greedy…Ovie’s points per game and goals per game are tops, and I want to see him win the Art Ross and the Richard playing only 72 games. Ridic.
Don’t get me wrong though, he he were to win the Ross instead it would be very deserved. He’s had a monster year…and vindicated their decision to keep both twins.

well when neuvy came back after the olympics holtby was the back up so he was the odd man out. now how long will he stay or i should ask how long will neuvirth be injured…

I recall that during one of the Bears’ long winning streaks (in Dec) that Holtby had played in most of those games, with one start in there for Varly. (There was a small period when Holtby went in a slump and chihuahua played more.
Neuvy didn’t get to play at all during the Olympic break due to his previous injury.

Only by a couple of years or so. He shares a birthday, but is a year older than one of my favorite kids. (No, not my kid but I kid I watched grow up and am very familiar with and now goes to Princeton U.)

Not really. It had everything to do with the fact that my BF broke up with me. ;-( He is a Rangers fan, though. Obviously lacking in common sense. At least I no longer have to make half-hearted, supportive noises about the Rangers. I guess he figured out that I love Semin more than him.

if you use this instead of atdhe, it heavily reduces the chances of malware etc. though I never trusted atdhe.

I caught the Cooke comparison and then I thought I heard him say “coward” another couple times regarding the hit on Seabrook. I was only half listening though so I think I missed him using it when comparing players who are not cowards. It would explain why I felt like he kept saying it though.
