I just watched the third period of the Paralympic semifinal sled hockey game between Japan and Canada. Don’t mind admitting that I wept a little bit. Gold medal is going either to the US or to the most heart-warming Cinderella story of these Paralympic games.

Last night’s game warrants some practice on defensive responsibility. I think they came back after the Olympic break and played a very responsible game against Buffalo. I’d like to see the same thing against the Pens.

With the Wings this season? You can never tell, in my opinion. They may break it open and come storming back, or they may never get it in gear. I’m not at all convinced they hold onto the 8th spot if Calgary can find any semblance of game.

Well, checking over the Wings schedule this year, I see they have lost their two previous meetings with the Oilers, a 6-5 SO and a 4-1 drubbing. The once mighty Wings tripping over the worst team in the league. Shame. Although I see they’ve finally managed to score, now 2-1 Oilers.

But yeah, the Wings have taken an incredible fall off. Injuries, fatigue, age, it’s all a factor. If Nick Lidstrom weren’t one of the greatest defensemen of all time, they’d be sunk without a trace this season.
