He should have gotten his stick in the passing lane but he waved in the wrong direction, which shows that he wasnt aware of where Staal was.
So easy to say he should have stopped a pretty perfect play. I think there was a little sauce on it too. It’s pretty hard to stop that play, and it was pretty much 4 on 2. It was a bad play for the whole team, but the bigger fail was Bradley’s non-clear, and I can’t even blame that so much because he did what he could and it didn’t get out. Assigning blame to someone on a 5 on 3 is like trying to assign individual blame to a hostage.

You can definitely point out where someone could have done better. I will never be convinced that he played that well, sorry.

You an always point out where someone could have done better, but let’s be realistic/fair. There’s not a player in hockey who couldn’t have done something better on every shift. I’m not pinning that goal on Poti “Standing there like a cone.”

I didn’t think it was a high stick, and even it was, I don’t think it was the stick that drew blood, and it bugged me that he didn’t blow the whistle on the shot immediately afterwards – penalty was an afterthought. He cut himself on the ice, I thought, when he landed.

Varly’s looked very solid, got beat on a 5 on 3 near perfect play Poti could have played better, but it likely wouldn’t have made a difference.

Tom Poti with a fucking horrid attempt on the 5 on 3. Again. I wish BB would stop using him 5 on 3. Again he had his stick covering nobody, leaving the cross-slot pass wide open. How fucking hard is it? If you are the D down low, you CANNOT let the pass go across the net. That’s basically your only job. Jesus.

I agree Poti shouldn’t get 5 on 3 time, but who would you put out? Is it the 2 forwards scheme and you use Mo or Schultz?

2 Fs and Schultz on the first group. If it goes longer then play Mo if Poti won’t learn how to cover that pass. I prefer Poti’s skating but on a 5/3 he just stands in the low slot so mobility isn’t as big a deal as actually doing your job.

PP isn’t scoring, but they are moving the puck very, very nicely. They can’t seem to put it on net and the Canes are collapsing in to block/deflect shots.
