Clinching #1
Just food for thought...
If we are able to hold our current 14 point lead over the Pens then we could clinch #1 in the East on Wednesday the 24th when the Pens come to town. The Pens only have 7 games after that one and we would be 16 points ahead.
Not that we need anything further to get us all pumped up for Pens games but it would definitely be a nice extra piece to the pie.

Keep in mind, the Pens aren’t the only team still in the race for the #1 spot in the East.
At this point, New Jersey is no less a threat to our top seed than Pittsburgh is, and Buffalo is right in the running with them.
To clinch the East on the 24th, the Devils and Sabres would have to drop a couple games. Without losses from NJ and Buffalo, the earliest we could clinch would be Mar 30th by my math.
I am a hockey fan first, and a Caps fan second.
I admit that I wasn’t really doing a detailed breakdown and I didn’t realize that both NJ and Buffalo have 10 games each after the 24th.
I was just thinking that it would be cool to beat the Pens while clinching the #1 spot.
