Awesome hit by Pothier. Really want him back next year.

The bad part about this video is it shows that goal, and since it’s NBC, it doesn’t really show the aftermath either =/

And I take back what I said earlier. It was close to low-bridging, but he was above the knee. That’s a clean hit.

Familiar Rapports: Bald Pollack, F&B, Gould Old Days.

Lobbies: Osala, Perreault, Erskine, Pothier, Neuvirth, Flash.

Fan of: Mean Lars Backstrom, Line Mashing, Cake.

Yes, I was disappointed to not have some angle on what touched off the melee. Everyone converged behind the goal after the score in obvious response to Orpik and Pothier having … what, a discussion over the hip check? Who knows. Lame NBC.

even worse that mcguire bestows pat verbeek’s nickname on tyler friggin’ kennedy.

thanks for the upload, renhoak. this was my first chance to see the backstrom tussle, and my first chance to see the hip check on replay.

You are welcome. I could have had these four clips up much earlier last evening, but when I went to upload to YouTube, it was in “maintenance” mode for a couple of hours. Finally got the first two clips FanShotted just before 3:00am, then ran into another hurdle, this time from SBN. I was rejected when trying to FanShot the last two clips because “too many FanShot postings in too short a time period – please try again later.”

Nice work on the captures. They are much appreciated. I propose to make renhoak official Rink Videographer.

pothier does take a knee himself, though, so i can see better why you thought it was dirty. orpik watches him all the way in, and the contact looks more at the thighs than at the knees, but even this angle isn’t perfect.

Great melee. Loved seeing Larrrrsss. Ovi smothering Letang, perfect! Bradley trying to get the guy off Ovi while Staal was trying to hold on to him, priceless.

Great melee. Loved seeing Larrrrsss. Ovi smothering Letang trying to pop Letang’s head off his body, perfect! Bradley trying to get the guy off Ovi while Staal was trying to hold on to him, priceless. Fixed.

Pothier has a lovely hip check. I could watch his hits on an endless loop.

thank you thank you thank you.

Orpik is a tool.

I think there was an overhead shot later in the NBC replays of Orpik going after Pothier, but I don’t remember when.

Orpik immediately slashes Potsy after the hit as well. Big bad tough guy doesn’t like a little hit. Douche. Bag. I’ll put that one in the memory bank for the next time I’m challenged when I say Orpik is nasty with his stick.

Killer_Carlson and Steckel Me Elmo are like brothers to me. And when I say brothers I don't mean like actual brothers. I mean it like how black people use it, which is more meaningful, I think.

Evgeny Kuznetsov hams it up as he joins the Russia men's national team for the "Sweden Games" leg of the Euro Hockey Tour in Helsinki, Finland.

There's a bit of controversy as their game against the Finns is scheduled to be played in Helsinki's outdoor Olympic Stadium. Where the daytime temps are currently approximately minus-15 degrees Celsius, with periodic heavy snow.

This interview with head coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov is fascinating, as he frets about the weather and especially when the reporters press him on the leaked reports that Kuznetsov will be centering the top line for Team Russia, just weeks after his 20th birthday.
