Semin's high stick penalty on Gonchar, also Laich's rib tickler on Crosby 07 February 2010

Great grabs Ren. I really don’t think Laich did anything to Crosby there, think he just tweaked something trying to pull the faceoff. The high stick on Gonchar was just unfortunate, certainly no intent.
I was thinking Laich may have caught Crosby in the ribs with the butt end of his stick. By no means intentional, just the result of good hard play by both, battling for puck.
It’s hard to tell. The end of his stick is obscured when he makes contact in both angles of the play, but if you pause at 0:31 you can see about an inch of his stick protruding form his glove. He very well may have caught in in the ribs with it.

A high stick is a high stick is a high stick. Semin’s was no worse than Orpiks.
Because now I can justify browsing and commenting during the work day with the argument that I am promoting my business.

It’s strange that Orpik keeps calling Semin “kid” seeing as Orpik is 29 and Semin is 25.

Crosby got butt-ended by the Caps’ Brooks Laich on a face-off during Sunday’s game, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Spin: Crosby doubled over in pain but stayed in the game. He should be fine for the Pens’ three-game ledger this week, beginning with Wednesday’s home game against the Islanders.
