Caps Goal Song Contest
So, sledding in to work this AM I caught the latest promo announcement from Elliot in the Morning. They've teamed up with the Caps and are collecting submissions for a new Caps Goal Song. Instead of some random catchy song of the moment, the Caps are now looking for something unique and they are turning to their fan base to create it.
This is quite a neat promotion. Follow the link for details. Personal feelings about Elliot's show aside, he's been a great ambassador for the game in this area since he arrived and I know there are some people who read this blog who could create something awesome for this promo. Feel free to provide a link on here for it so we can all enjoy.
If this FanPost is written by someone other than one of the blog's editors, the opinions expressed in it do not necessarily reflect those of this blog or SB Nation.

I was initially tempted to try something but I think your fruity loops recording would be better received/and more poppin than an original rock composition. And then there’s that thing where you get no rights to your original song once you submit even if they don’t use it.
I think you’re dead on with Fruity Loops, go for it!
What about the classic ones?
Da-da-dada-Dadadada-HEY-dadadada-Dadadada-HEY…
(can’t find a link, but I think NJD plays it after goals and COL played it around the :30 mark of these highlights from Game 7 SCF from 2001, in the background)
Or
Ovechkin = Green Backs
Da-da-dada-Dadadada-HEY-dadadada-Dadadada-HEY
The song your’e thinking off is Rock and Roll and was written by Gary Glitter, a convicted child molester. Every time its used that scumbag gets royalties. It should be perma banned from all sporting events.
Firstly, its Rock and Roll Part 2 that is played all around.
Secondly, most people have no idea of his conviction
They should know, it was banned for about a year from every major sporting event. But people have short memories, and it came back by popular demand unfortunately.

Who cares really?
If we banned songs from every musician that was a bad person we wouldn’t have much music to listen to. Musicians as a whole are not always good role models.
They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown.
Gary Glitter=Michael Jackson

We also wouldn’t be playing golf, I suppose. Or any other sport save, I dunno, curling.

I’d imagine those guys don’t want to lose the rights to that. They should, however, play that video at the VC. It would be awesome.
CAPS RAP
We’d love to have them play the Caps Rap at Verizon ( not for a goal song but just in general)
We told Ted and the team we would sign whatever they needed to play it but they won’t.
Understandable but disappointing ( especially when the capstranout gets his own video LOL)
" 60 percent of the time...it works everytime"
Really? That sucks! What was their explanation?

I’m imagining something like this. . .

Still waiting for someone to draft Paul Newman. . .
Scares me too. I’ll stick to this one.

Too bad it has to be a “Goal Song”…this would be the perfect way to introduce the rap/song I wrote, “The Double Nickel Anthem.” Still looking for videomaking help, btw.

I’ll be in it if you need extras? Or female vocals? :) But as you know, I have zero videomaking skills, so I would probably not be very helpful.
"No Brooks Laich, no win. Know Brooks Laich, know win."
well i haven’t recorded audio yet but mainly i want to make it a real video rather than just a collage of pictures set to a lousy rap about a cult hero =p

Personally...
How about the crescendo section from Marily Manson’s “The Beautiful People”. You may not know it from the name, but if you’ve been to Caps games since 1997-98, you’ve heard it.
That or “Body Rock” by Moby, or perhaps “Above” by Blue Man Group (again the crescendo… If you’ve seen their stage show, it’s when the curtain drops and you see them in person….)
Let's go Caps!
yes yes yes

Collaborating with those with audio recording access?
I think the idea is one step better than that Goal Shakers – The Caps, but what a great opportunity to be both relevant and hip and to participate rather than do the , “I could do better than that if they asked me”… well They Did ask us, so I’ve gone to the well and have re-written a song I co-wrote with a guitarist from NY (Ranger fan, but great guy) Our equipment and recordings are currently buried in the big apple and I want to do it locally….
anyone interested?
