Oh my goodness, what awful news. Brian Burke's son, Brendan, was killed in a car accident today in Indiana.
Brendan Burke was just 21 years old. His 18-year-old friend, a passenger in the car, was also killed in treacherous, snowy conditions.

This actually made me a little teary when I heard. No parent should ever have to outlive their child, and Brendan seemed like an exceptional young man. My thoughts are with the family and the family of the other young man who died.

I google searched Brian Burke to get some more info on this horrible news. The first thing that came up was this article from the Toronto Star. I find it in incredibly bad taste to lead with that sentence, as if his sexuality was what defined him, but maybe I’m reading too much into it.

My thoughts are with the Burke family. From the article I read earlier in the year he sounded like a very good kid with a promising future. Very sad.

couldn’t agree more. what possible relevance does the kid’s sexual orientation have? he died in a tragic accident, that is more important than what he was attracted to in life. shame on that newspaper.
