So this caps fan walks into a bar...
So last night I was at a local watering hole(Caddies on Cordell in Bethesda) minding my own business and getting smoked in Golden Tee when I happened to turn around to the booth behind me. The gentleman sitting in that booth was talking about the Olympics(hockey specifically) with the waitress when I realized, wait a minute, I know that guy! That's Mike Green! Almost at that precise moment, the waitress asked Greenie if he played hockey. Unable to contain my fanboy geekout, I interjected that "Yeah he kinda plays hockey and he's kinda good at it, too." Then I said to him: "Dude you got robbed and you should be in Vancouver right now, but since you're here, would you mind if I got your autograph?" He laughed and obliged my humble request. I got a picture out of it too, said thanks and let him go back to his dinner.
It really is true what they say, hockey players are the coolest, most approachable athletes that there are. I've met other athletes(Redskins mostly) in non-team function situations and they weren't nearly as laid back as Mike was. It was a nice unexpected surprise/Caps jolt to my hockey starved system. Just thought I'd share.

Bethesda, very gangsta.
What a great encounter.
(Yes, I know about the avatar hounding - just pretend mine is invisible.)
Must have just come from his appearance on WPL (aren’t the Comcast studios in Bethesda?). The real question is … was he able to score with the waitress??
"We'll just reload our weapons and be ready for the second half of the season." - AO
yes. you can walk to Caddies from there, it’s super close.
Kung-fu Rink Rabbit
On Draper having to wear a USA jersey at practice: "well at least the Wings can settle bets without involving gold plated desert eagles!"
he can hit anywhere on a 4×6 at will.. he can score w/ the waitress .. especially with his new wingman CapsfanSteve! hahaha
"the other day on sportscenter they said something along the lines of "the capitals score so much tiger woods is jealous" haha had me laughing hard while i was eating my cereal"
After all the sturm und drang, Green sounds like he survived his non-Olympic experience just fine. I enjoyed the mental picture of him hanging out by Theo’s fireplace to watch his teammates get pasted by the Finns/Slovaks/countrymen, and he seems to be healthy and normal.
Thanks for the report.
Now helping to keep an eye on all things Gr8 at Alex Ovetjkin.
So a Redskins fan walks into a bar...
…with his little Dacshund dressed in a redskins sweater. He looks over to the bartender, and the Skins game is just about to start and asks if he and the dog can watch the game as the powers out at his place.
The bartender agrees on the condition that they sit at the end of the bar, and that the dog doesn’t cause trouble as normally they don’t allow dogs in the bar. The guy agrees, and takes a stool at the end, with the dog sitting on the end of the bar.
So the game goes on, and on, and finally, midway through the third quarter, the Redskins kick a field goal to cut into the opponent’s 20 point lead. The dog seeing that yaps and runs down the bar, high-fiving all the other patrons.
The bartender, upon seeing this talks to the guy, “Hey, that’s cute! He’s a great dog. What does he do when the Skins score a touchdown.”
The guy looks at the bartender and says “I dunno, I’ve only had him for 2 years….”

A tired, gold medal wearing, Miller.
Killer_Carlson and Steckel Me Elmo are like brothers to me. And when I say brothers I don't mean like actual brothers. I mean it like how black people use it, which is more meaningful, I think.

Who will have nothing left for Wednesday’s game against the Caps. I mean, it will be so much harder to get up for the Caps after beating Team Canada. It’s only a regular season game as opposed to an Olympic game.

A regular season game that is after a game against the defending champs….

My guess is that they’ll play Lalime in one of those games. I doubt if they’d play Miller in back to backs, even though we’re talking back to backs involving the Pens and us.

Then again, the Sabres love to work Miller hard… and the rest of the Sabres are playing back-to-back…

As a Caps fan...
I’m rooting for it. :) Miller’s the first goalie the Caps see when they get back to play.
