by Steck It Out on Feb 12, 2010 6:57 AM EST via mobile reply actions

Is that really the consensus here?

I would think that in the last handful of games it has shown that we need to shore up the D a bit.

by Gin and Tonic on Feb 12, 2010 7:57 AM EST up reply actions

I don’t think so. I think the consensus is “don’t make a trade just to make a trade. But a trade that actually upgrades the team would be welcome.”

I think that’s pretty accurate for the moment, but we’re borderline “need” in a couple of areas (not to say it’s absolutely critical to make moves to address those areas, but they’re somewhat glaring areas where improvements can be made).

by J.P. on Feb 12, 2010 8:54 AM EST up reply actions

That’s my opinion as well. Don’t make a trade just to make one. Or because another team does. If you see one that makes sense, by all means pull the trigger.

I just think that choices have been made throughout the year to make cap space available. And our farm team is loaded. So we are in a great position to make a trade and there’s no reason to sit idly by content with what we have.

by Gin and Tonic on Feb 12, 2010 9:30 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

The last few games are sure to have created some additional trades that make sense.

what if we dump our defensive liabilities (erskine, shamo) for a center and then try to move for a more shut down d?

by snowburnt on Feb 12, 2010 2:10 PM EST up reply actions

I may be the only one, but I’m not convinced this team needs a shutdown D…especially if one or two Dmen are moved to give Alzner and Carlson permanent residence in DC.

by Yoshietree on Feb 12, 2010 2:11 PM EST up reply actions

I think shutdown D is one of the most overused and under-defined terms in the hockey world. What do we consider a shutdown D? I have pretty strict standards; so strict that most teams don’t even have one. Could the Caps use a D upgrade? Sure. But they aren’t going to pick up a Norris candidate at this point.

Killer_Carlson and Steckel Me Elmo are like brothers to me. And when I say brothers I don't mean like actual brothers. I mean it like how black people use it, which is more meaningful, I think.

by Fehr and Balanced on Feb 12, 2010 2:12 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed. I’ll go one step further. I don’t think there are very many players that will be affordable (and available) that are an upgrade over what the team already has in DC or Hershey.

/horrible sentence

by Yoshietree on Feb 12, 2010 2:14 PM EST up reply actions

Agree. Most of the names being bandied around are either a) not moving b) not an upgrade or c) not affordable. Nieds is an upgrade, for sure, but ANA is only 2 points out of 8th spot and won’t just sell him, plus the bidding war will be fierce and I’m not sure I want any part of that. Volchenkov isn’t going anywhere. Hamhuis seems like the most reasonable option, though the Kubina Lobby is certainly on to something as well. I’m not sure there are many other names after those two that make any sense for the Caps.

Killer_Carlson and Steckel Me Elmo are like brothers to me. And when I say brothers I don't mean like actual brothers. I mean it like how black people use it, which is more meaningful, I think.

Come play off time can we bring up Alzner or Carlson full time without messing with the free-agency timer?

by snowburnt on Feb 12, 2010 2:19 PM EST up reply actions

I hate the “FA” argument. If they’re ready to play bring them up so they can play. Why trade away assets (players and chips) when most of the problems can be fixed from within?

by Yoshietree on Feb 12, 2010 2:22 PM EST up reply actions

will GMGM see it the same way? Do we want Carlson to get NHL experience in the playoffs?

I’m not familiar with the rest of our hershey D guys, any others looking good?

I like Patrick McNeill, but apparently management doesn’t..

by jordanDC on Feb 12, 2010 2:26 PM EST up reply actions

I wouldn’t say management doesn’t like him. They’ve kept him in the fold, in the AHL, and gave him a pre-season game. Look at some of the guys that didn’t get that treatment. And in any event, this isn’t the time to find out if he can play in the NHL.

Killer_Carlson and Steckel Me Elmo are like brothers to me. And when I say brothers I don't mean like actual brothers. I mean it like how black people use it, which is more meaningful, I think.

I don’t think you’d want to bring up either of them to play in the playoffs without ~10 games bare minimum (and likely a lot more than that) in the NHL beforehand. This is why having Sloan here (perhaps among others) is problematic right now.

my problem with this line of thinking: BB has been showing a preference for sloan over alzner. a permanent spot for alzner on this team would have me reasonably content heading into the playoffs, but starting tyler sloan against the pens as we did last week….well, i think there are some upgrades out there worth pursuing.

That made me howl.

The reason I don’t see a deal coming is that many GM’s are willing to over pay for prime d-men , and GMGM will not.
That said – the main thing in McPhee’s favor is that he has so many offensive weapons to deal, on the big club and in Hershey, and many teams are looking for that 20-25 goal scorer.
We need a top 4 D, but I dont see the Caps paying the price to acquire one.

Varly looked awful last night, like he did at the beginning of the season, however, he did get considerably better after a few games and if I remember correctly, he had two shutouts right before he got hurt. The problem is with so few games left, do you let him start for most of the remaining games after the Olympic brake to see if he can get back to previous form or is Theo going to be the #1 goaltender from now on?

i thought that once i heard he was starting last night it was a mistake. 1 game where you give up 4 goals in the AHL is suffice enough of a rehab assignment? Was MN30 hurt or did he get pulled on Wednesday?

I just think Varly got rushed into that start… i know he’s been out for 2 months and all but he looked like he needed more of a conditioning stint.

I thought BB was a little rough on Varly, regardless of how shitty he was. When they left on Monday, he said he explicitly said he wasn’t playing Varly in either of the two games. Then he pulls Neuvy and says he’s available to start on Thursday. So, maybe he wasn’t mentally prepared to start yesterday, but when you have 3 goalies and are TOLD you aren’t playing either game, who can blame him.

Varly will get lots of chance to shake the rust at team Russia practices.

Russian Machine very rarely breaks. Oh and f**k Brooks Orpik.

by macvechkin on Feb 12, 2010 12:01 PM EST up reply actions

Did BB come out and say that Varly had plenty of time to prepare for this game and knew it would be his? That’s not consistent with what he said about Varly definitely not playing against Ottowa or Montreal, which would mean Varly didn’t actually know he would start this game and wouldn’t have a ton of time to prepare for it. (I’m not sure he said this, but I thought I read that somewhere)
Either way, I thought he was a little rough on Varly, considering it was his first start in over 2 months and the D took the night off. He wasn’t good at all, but I was just a little surprised that he threw him under the bus like that.

by caps123 on Feb 12, 2010 12:09 PM EST up reply actions

I thought Bruce has been frustrated with the defensive irresponsibility for at least a week, since he said he’s been on their case. I wasn’t expecting Varly to start yesterday, but since Neuvi and Theo both played in Montreal, and it was a pretty rough game, maybe Bruce thought starting Varly was the best option for part two of the back to back. Varly definitely looked shaky in the first and third. I could see taking a few minutes in the first to get settled if he wasn’t expecting to start, (especially since the first couple of goals would have been difficult for anyone to stop), but not remaining focused in the third was not a good sign. My thinking is that if a goalie is on the bench as a back up, he has to be prepared to go — because he might be needed.

by miseenjeu on Feb 12, 2010 12:54 PM EST up reply actions

Semyon Varlamov is on the trip, but won’t play tonight or tomorrow, Boudreau said.

“We’ll see Saturday if it’s worth putting him in,” Boudreau said. “There are a lot of reasons why he should play or shouldn’t play. [It’s a matter] of rust and whether or not we practice Friday because that’s a travel day and [the risk involved with] putting him in a [pressure-packed] position if things go well the next two games.”

Now, granted they lost the next game, ending whatever pressure packed notions they had, but after saying he’s not playing, why play him? They say Neuvy wasn’t really hurt. Why not play Theo, he’s about to get a 2 week vacation?

Varly could have made this all mute of course, by playing well.

Russian Machine very rarely breaks. Oh and f**k Brooks Orpik.

by macvechkin on Feb 12, 2010 12:58 PM EST up reply actions

I’m in BB’s camp on this - the D has been slipping away for the past few games, and last night was the worst I’ve seen the D all year. There were 2 or 3 goals that could be argued that Varly should have stopped. But last’s night debacle was all on the D.

I’m a big fan of the guy as a 2nd line center. I really liked him here in PHX. I thought he got a bit of a raw deal numbers wise because Gretzky gave him a different line partner or two every week. Steven and Doaner had good chemistry, but Gretzky failed to make them a permanent pairing much to my dismay.

He’s solid defensively, much more so than a guy like Flash and I’d say a tad bit more than BMo at this point in his career.

And how would you characterize the decision the sign TT to that extension with Rask playing so well in the AHL waiting in the wings?

by Fehr and Balanced on Feb 12, 2010 1:57 PM EST up reply actions

Rask has always been a class A propect, but a 2.50/.915 doesn’t scream “don’t sign our Vezina winner for 4 years in his (waning) prime.”

It just kind of baffles me that BOS wants more out of their goaltending than TT. Rask is still a question mark, and to be honest, he’s LESS of a question mark than Varly is. It’s just hard to judge a young goalie in 30 games in a defensive system.

by Bushwood Bushwhacker on Feb 12, 2010 2:05 PM EST up reply actions

I’m not talking about this year. He was superb in the AHL last year. Yeah, it’s the AHL, but the same kind of numbers have us excited about Neuvirth, and Rask has been better in the NHL so far.

But also well enough that giving a 35 year old a 4 year extension was silly even then.

So if BB thinks that 5 of the 6 goals were bad goals, which one wasn’t bad? And who were they bad for? I have a hard time blaming either of the first two on Varlamov so do you think BB thinks he should have gotten one of those or is he considering them as bad team goals?

The Spezza snipe was delicious. When guys hit the inside of the post/crossbar… I can give the goalie a pass even if they didn’t look sharp on the play.

The Sens played great, and our D didn’t necessarily play a whole lot worse than they normally do… it’s just the way good teams make bad teams look worse than they are. I can’t remember a team controlling the puck and limiting our chances like the Sens did in the 1st last night.

I didn’t think that one was Varly’s fault, more that he left a bad rebound which lead to the goal. The last one was a killer though. The last one in the first was horrible, too. He just wasn’t sharp at all, I don’t know if I would call 5 of the 6 goals “bad” though.

It all smacks of too little, too late for me – which is fine. If they wanted to go “all in” this year they should have started with a better team. There’s just not enough talent on that roster, not with Brodeur having brilliant nights intertwined with mediocre showings, to make them scary to me.

And yes, I know they took 3 of 4 (or 2 of 4 plus a shootout) this year from us – playoffs are a different beast, if the Caps play them like they did in that 4-1 win they’ll be fine.

by Becca H on Feb 12, 2010 2:16 PM EST up reply actions

I agree – they realized that what they had wasn’t good enough, and are now attempting to fix it. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it goes for them.

But if they play them like they did the first 3 they won’t. We all like to point out that AO wasn’t in the two real losses but AO doesn’t exactly make us play differently. He won’t all of a sudden be the key to beating the trap. If anything he plays right into it just as much as anyone else we have.

I don’t see Ovie being the difference in the one win, either – I mean the total team effort that came out.

They played those first few games against the Devils early in the season when the team was still a bit shaky, when the new guys were settling in and lines weren’t as solid. That 4-1 win was one of the best, most complete games they’ve played this year in my opinion. This isn’t Jersey-specific, if they play that way against any team they’ll be tough to beat.

I also just don’t see New Jersey as having made significant upgrades to their roster since last year, and they didn’t do that well if you recall. By the time they got to the playoffs Marty was exhausted and downright human, and the team got beat by a lesser Carolina team. Throw in a few more goals (maybe) from Kovalchuk and an even more weary Brodeur after the Olympics? Still not scary.

Then again, Bruce is such a Flash guy, he’d probably rather fail with him at 2C then… well, no. But I’d expect more juggling as he tries to capture lightning in a bottle again.

BMo’s proven he can be the designated 2C for me. He’s our #2 FO guy, has enough speed and skill to defend behind the goal and is a very good passer. His only drawbacks have been his recent scoring slump and he tends to get bumped off the puck on the sideboards (probably due to his size).

G3 – 4, 14, 16, 40, 56, 89

I see Laich and Semin on for two of those.
I see Sloan on for 3.
I see Erskine on for 2.
I see Alzner on for 1.

Let’s look at the replay.

G1 – Jason Spezza skates past Semin, who does a one-handed attempt to stop him by flopping his stick out in the middle of nowhere, and fails. He then scores right past Tyler Sloan.

G2 – Flash loses the draw; Michalek scores. OK, that one’s on Flash. Spezza won the draw.
G3 – Chris Neal is right on top of Varlamov and flips it over the pad; Flash is on the other side of the ice; Erskine, Sloan and Bourque are right on top of the crease, and none of them can do anything.

G4 – Can’t get a real good look; Flash is in the middle, covering his guy… the puck goes in off of Erskine.

I know you like Flash, and he has skill. I’m not trying to get into that discussion again. I also agree that he’s good value at 750K. But he’s having a good season and is due for a raise and the Caps have O to burn and cracks on D. That makes it the perfect time to trade him, IMO. He still could get better, and we’d have lost a good player, but I don’t think he’s part of the core of this team and I don’t think he brings anything we can’t replace. He’s secondary scoring for us, which is helpful, but not untouchable.

I guess the bottom line for me is I don’t think the return for Flash (plus a prospect and/or draft pick) is going to bring anything substantial in return…especially if you’re thinking D.

by Yoshietree on Feb 12, 2010 2:24 PM EST up reply actions

I think Flash for Hamhuis would work. There would be throw-ins on each side to even the roster spots out, but as far as value I think that’s what we’re looking at. And I’d take that deal in a heartbeat.

Angus isn’t even close. He’s not even a legit pro yet I don’t think. Isn’t he still in the second division in Sweden?

I don’t think they want to go into the playoffs with MP as a C, as much as I like the guy. I think if we move Flash for Hamhuis there may be another deal to bring in a decent/average guy like Reinprecht from FLA or a similar guy. I don’t see a flashy C coming in at the deadline because those guys are just too hard to pry away.

I like MP a lot. I think he could fill in and be our 2C if Flash gets dealt.

That said, there is no ideal solution to this. We need someone to play balls to the wall until we can fill the position adequately by FA or with, presumably, MP or Mackan coming in and taking the reins because we do not have a natural 2C.

by DrinkingPartner on Feb 12, 2010 4:13 PM EST up reply actions

MP and Mackan will start their battle this summer, but that won’t help us now. Maybe MP could play 2C, but I don’t feel comfortable going into the playoffs relying on that. I’d rather he play that 3/4C and be carefully managed if he’s going to be in the NHL right now.

I’m really not all that worried about what he’s doing right now as long as the wrist isn’t going to be a long term problem. He’ll probably have to start next year in HER but I think he’ll make a splash at the Summer camp and rookie camp, if for no other reason than his skating. He’ll stick around for training camp and maybe get a pre-season game or 2 but MP has the inside track just due to experience. Mackan, however, has youth on his side.

Name me one.

Let’s see: Hershey’s forwards…

Andrew Gordon (RW) – limited NHL experience (3 games in 2 seasons, 0/0/0 G/A/P)

Keith Aucoin © – came up, was “not effective”, got sent back down, got reamed by the fan base for being ineffective at the NHL level. 21 games played for the Caps over the last two seasons, 3G, 8A, 4 PIM career.

Alexandre Giroux (LW) – everyone’s favorite career AHLer, came up, was not effective, got sent back down, got reamed harder than Aucoin. 31 games played for the Caps over the last 3 seasons, 4G, 5A, 16 PIM.

Steve Pinizzotto © – no NHL experience whatsoever.

Kyle Wilson © – 2 NHL games, 2A.

Jay Beagle © – 9 NHL games, 1G, 1A, 4 PIM.

Francois Bouchard (RW) – No NHL experience whatsoever.

Andrew Joudrey © – No NHL experience whatsoever.

Mathieu Perreault © – 18 NHL games, 2G, 5A, 4 PIM (most points scored when Ovechkin was out of the lineup).

Boyd Kane (LW) – 8 games for the Caps, going back to 2005-06. 2 A in that season, nothing since. Career AHLer, like Aucoin and Giroux, with less “upside”.

Oskar Osala (LW) – 2 NHL games, 0 G, 0 A.

Who is better than Flash, who is having a career year as far as goals and assists are concerned? If he gets one more goal, he ties his career high for goals. He’s already got 25 assists (career high of 20 in 75 games) in 50 games played.

Unless we move one of them out as an ancillary trade.

Hamhuis + Santorelli for Flash + Erskine.

The glut of D isn’t changed, but the quality is increased. We get a young C from NSH that has at least a little bit of NHL experience (and I believe could be sent down to HER if we didn’t think he was cutting it here). It doesn’t have to be this trade, but it could be something similar.

Lately?

It’s sure come in handy…

I just don’t see why we have to make a move at all.

Yes, you have to give up something of value… but we have a TON of defensemen – seven on the roster right now – and if we bring up Alzner and Carlson, that’s NINE D on the roster. And now you-all want to trade for another one. That’d be ten. We don’t NEED ten little d-men. We can’t use all the ones we have right now. Plus, it’s a roster slot taken up and we STILL need to backfill a forward to replace Flash, unless you want to use Quintin Laing (now, mind you, I have nothing against Laing, but he’s not Flash.)

I’m just saying do a trade that makes sense. It does NOT make sense to add yet another blueliner without getting rid of one or more of the ones we have.

It wouldn’t be “yet another blueliner.” It would be a top-4 caliber veteran defenseman. We don’t have 4 top-4 caliber defensemen right now. It’s an area of need for the team. Nobody’s saying we should trade for a Brookbank or something.

I blame F&B for dragging me back down this road today.

How is he more inconsistent than any of the other secondary scoring on this team?

by Yoshietree on Feb 12, 2010 3:10 PM EST up reply actions

I didn’t say he was more consistent. But he is definitely inconsistent. He only appears to play defense when he wants to. He shows flashes (no pun intended) of great offensive talent (but always has) but tends to just disappear out there for long stretches as well.

Bradley as a tertiary scorer has shown more consistency. Even when the goals are not coming for him (and how often do they, really) I’m glued to the screen when he breaks in. For Flash, I never expect anything. Im not surprised when he scores, but I’m also not surprised when the puck starts to move the other way. To me, that describes inconsistency.

by Bushwood Bushwhacker on Feb 12, 2010 2:36 PM EST up reply actions

I’d say it’s more than just his faceoff work. He’s got a tendency to get very disinterested in playing defense, and has had that for several years now. He’s frequently among the bottom 3 in ES GAON/60. It’s only being in a position of a little more visibility that we’re starting to see that show up in his play.

He matures between his ears every game.

So should any young talent. But that doesn’t mean that he is going to keep improving for years. Otherwise he would have had much more value much earlier. I suspect he is leveling off. If we can get something big for him, while his value is high, I wouldn’t object too loudly, provided it didn’t screw the locker room up.

↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → b a (select) start

by renstar on Feb 12, 2010 2:32 PM EST up reply actions

Again, how do you define “something big” and why do you suspect he’s leveling off? I also disagree with the “much more value earlier”. While he is in the “shit of get off the pot” phase in his career…in layman’s terms, his 3rd full season…explain to me how his value should have been much much higher? He’s a former first rounder, but was never predicted to have the same upside as an OV, Crosby, Malkin, Backstrom…or any other tier one player.

by Yoshietree on Feb 12, 2010 3:13 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t define something big, GMGM does. At that point I can agree or disagree with his assertion. I’m just saying that if he were moved I wouldn’t necessarily get upset immediately. Note that I have not been advocating trading him, merely that I could understand such a move.

I meant that if he was the type that was going to improve very very quickly (as in a Backstrom, Getzlaf, etc tyoe pick) then he would have had more value when we traded for him. I guess I figured that the scouts saw that he was going to develop well, but not exceedingly quickly. I’m drawing that conclusion based on his low salary and that no one talks about him really earning even $2-3M in his next contract cycle.

↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → b a (select) start

by renstar on Feb 12, 2010 3:21 PM EST up reply actions

Fair enough. But for the record I’d be surprised if his salary doesn’t shoot into the $2M+ range next year…either with the Caps or another team tendering an offer.

All the more reason to trade him?

Point granted. But I still think I hold on to him hoping he heats up at the right time.. Chances are I’d rather have the 2nd rounder for RFA compensation over anything they’re likely to get in return.

by Yoshietree on Feb 12, 2010 4:49 PM EST up reply actions

Yea, the best reason to trade flash is that we may not have enough room for him after Fehr and Nickie get their raises. If that’s the case, and GMGM is crunching numbers and thinking that he may not fit, then trading him now makes tons of sense.

by Bushwood Bushwhacker on Feb 12, 2010 4:56 PM EST up reply actions

Young Nick is obviously in for a pay day…Fehr I’m not so sure about. I can’t see him getting more than 2 years at ~$1M per. His injury history combined with him consistently being in BB’s dog house (for reasons that aren’t always his fault) mean he’ll probably get a raise…but don’t expect a big one.

by Yoshietree on Feb 12, 2010 6:32 PM EST up reply actions

Flash was not very good for a while and has quite suddenly come alive this year. Now, if he is going to get better, I say keep him. But sure things are rare in hockey and if the right offer comes along, you have to take it. Flash could put up a huge stinker next year after he gets his raise. Who knows what he’ll do, you gotta go with the sure thing.

Some Explain

to me why we would want/need vokoun and his big salary or Roloson and his age at this point? i wouldn’t give up anything for vokoun. we’ve got two (three?) young stud goalies. are we ready to give up on one of them already in exchange for this guy?

clearly we need some defensive help but i’m not really seeing that a 33 year old goalie with a big cap number and limited playoff experience is really a good trade for us right now. but what do i know…

Just trying to capture the spirit of the thing...

by dcsportsfan1 on Feb 12, 2010 2:22 PM EST reply actions

Vokoun is better than any of the goalies we have right now and he’s a legitimate No. 1 in that he can play every day and be relied on. Theo is streaky, Neuvy is green, Varly is injury prone.

by Fehr and Balanced on Feb 12, 2010 2:36 PM EST up reply actions

ok, but can you think of four more reasons?

i dont think GMGM is interested in taking on vokoun’s big salary for next year, particularly with backs still to be inked. i think he rolls w/ the goalies we got unless a UFA pops up or an injury forces his hand. quite frankly, while i think they want to win this year, i think they look at next year as the first best chance to put it all to gether.

if he takes on salary, its going to be for a dman or center, IMO.

Just trying to capture the spirit of the thing...

by dcsportsfan1 on Feb 12, 2010 2:33 PM EST up reply actions

if we can replace theo with vokoun (making it so we’re not using all of our cap for vokoun) i think we’d be okay with it. We’d still have room for backstrom and we’d have a much better (more consistent) goalie as the vetran with varly/neuvy

by 8vechkin on Feb 12, 2010 2:35 PM EST up reply actions

theo’s a UFA after this season, so moving his contract doesn’t affect backstrom’s deal one way or the other.

You were not, but I’d like to see Barker get a change of scenery. He’s like || that close to being a lottery bust: he’s totally lost Quenville’s trust. The guys over at Second City Hockey were calling him ‘The Turnstile’ earlier in the year and he’s lost his spot on the PP. Or if he hasn’t lost it, he’s been suspiciously non-productive with it, playing with all that talent.

If this goes through and we can’t get Kim, I’d love to get my hands on Ballard, if the price isn’t too high.

I think half the reason they signed him was to avoid a PR nightmare. They messed up the QO and then would have lost him for nothing. So they signed him to a reasonable deal, even if they weren’t sold on him. MIN needs to resign Barker in the offseason.

by Steck It Out on Feb 12, 2010 3:30 PM EST up reply actions

Don’t know about that, Leddy was projected as a 2nd/3rd round pick and the 25th NA skater his draft year according to HF. Minnesota reached to draft him, so I think the deal is more like Johnsson/(Touted NCAA D) for Barker. I think both teams won this trade, but I’d give the edge to Minny, especially if Barker improves in a new environment.

Only YOU can prevent idiots from commenting!

by Knee high to a duck on Feb 12, 2010 3:34 PM EST up reply actions

Considering that Chicago is having salary problems at the moment, any room they can get is vital. They get a young defenseman plus more cap space after the season, which I think will help out.

But I can see where you’re coming from. Barker is a good D-man as well, and he should take advantage of a fresh start in Minny.

You just gotta keep the mass flowing the way you want it to. That ledge he’s sliding on is at the end of the curve: the wall should be raised/the triangular cutout needs to go away.

Seen the replay a couple times on NBC, it’s apparently been a crash magnet the last couple days. And fuck those assholes for not thinking about safety outside of the track.

After a bit of thought I think their responsibility (prosecutable, policy-changing, or both) is keeping the luger and his sled within the confines of the track whether they’ve spilled or not. Once they’re out it’s a danger to both the athlete and spectators and there’s no accounting for what’s outside the track:The Olympic Committee passed the track on safety, they can’t account for what’s outside the track once somebody leaves it.

You can’t account for all variables but I certainly would demand Something be done for that spot before my countrymen get on that track again.

Even though he fell off in producvitivy in the end of the streak, he pushed the team through alot of games earlier in the season as a winger, then did really well as a center at the beginning of the streak. Sucks that he is one of our best trade baits right now.
