I thought Marian Gaborik was Mr. Glass. (As was a character that actor Hayden Christensen played in a movie several years ago.)

Hayden Christensen played the role of Stephen Glass in the movie “Shattered Glass” in 2003. It was about the rise and fall of the journalistic career of Stephen Glass.

I would have nominated Semin for Mr. Glass.

If Varly is Mr. Glass.. then Ovechkin would be Bruce Willis from that movie.

Just keep water bottles away from him.

Another nomination for Mr Glass is Caps prospect Andrew Glass who plays for Boston University.

i said it as soon as the game ended, this is atleast one bit of good news for losing

but as my roommate, whos a flyers fan put it, “The Caps got tired of winning”

tonight will be the biggest test for the Caps imo.

Will they bounce back from a heart breaking lose, like ending the winning streak?

I don’t really think it’ll matter too much, considering any bounce back momentum is negated after the team returns from St. Louis.

this is true the Olympics will be a recharge moment no matter how th rest of the week plays out

I was meaning a win after an emotional loss like last night playing back to backs to be the mark of a great team. or the players will just coast to the olympics which is something I don’t want to see

kinda agree, Ottawa has been on fire of late, but personally looking more towards how we handle the Blackhawks on March 14th.

Promote the game, it's the NHL, not SCHL

by kurlNdrag on Feb 11, 2010 12:14 PM EST up reply actions

Probably a pointless comparison, but there’s such odd symmetry with the Caps and Hershey this year:

The Bears were on their own historic winning streak last month, having tied the team’s record at 12 straight. On January 13, they were 7 seconds from taking the Norfolk Admirals to overtime and a potential record-setting 13th win when the Admirals got one past Holtby. On Jan. 13, the Caps got their first win that began The Streak, which was ended last night only eight seconds from a shootout. The interesting part of this continuity is that the Bears haven’t lost a game since. They are still within sight of setting a new record this season, and remain seven seconds away from a 22-0 run.

Now helping to keep an eye on all things Gr8 at Alex Ovetjkin.

Will they bounce back from a heart breaking lose

If last night’s game was like breaking up with your long term girlfriend when you’ve known it’s been coming for ~14 days… then today’s game would be the drunken one night stand rebound in a bar.

I’m not exactly sure how that will translate into an NHL analogy…. but it will be interesting to see.

by Brainumbc on Feb 11, 2010 1:01 PM EST up reply actions

Oi...

That’s a pretty amusing image, actually…

Rebounds usually work for a little while… if it can carry us through to Saturday, we’ll be fine until after the break. :-)

Then again… sometimes you don’t remember the rebound until 9.5 months later a crying sound comes from a basket outside your front door after you hear a knock

In Boudreau’s post-game press conference he said Neuvirth would be physically able to play tomorrow if they wanted him to. Seems very minor indeed.

My ability to post is only surpassed by my ability to pinch pennies.

by jordanDC on Feb 11, 2010 11:57 AM EST up reply actions

Of course, “very minor” and “able to play today if needed” (paraphrased) could be spin from the team, as they can’t send down an injured player. But the fact that he was on the bench for the second period would certainly seem to indicate that it’s nothing too substantial.

But the fact that he was on the bench for the second period would certainly seem to indicate that it’s nothing too substantial.

But he wasn’t out there for the third. My take is that they kept him on the bench for the second because you have to skate across the ice to get to the visitor locker room at the Bell Center. No point disrupting the game to send Neuvirth across the ice to a French serenade. He skated off with the team after the 2nd and never returned.

Killer_Carlson and Steckel Me Elmo are like brothers to me. And when I say brothers I don't mean like actual brothers. I mean it like how black people use it, which is more meaningful, I think.
