OK, Varly – time to show ‘em what you’re really made of…
…and it better not be glass!
I need a snappy signature...
they call him Mr. Glass

Karl Alzner + John Carlson = Carl Carlson!

I thought Marian Gaborik was Mr. Glass. (As was a character that actor Hayden Christensen played in a movie several years ago.)
Rocking the Red since 1975

i said it as soon as the game ended, this is atleast one bit of good news for losing
but as my roommate, whos a flyers fan put it, “The Caps got tired of winning”
People are stupid, a person is smart. This leads me to believe there must be at least one smart hockey fan in Philly.
As long as lackluster efforts until we’re behind by a significant margin games don’t become the norm, I’m not too worried.

tonight will be the biggest test for the Caps imo.
Will they bounce back from a heart breaking lose, like ending the winning streak?

I don’t really think it’ll matter too much, considering any bounce back momentum is negated after the team returns from St. Louis.

this is true the Olympics will be a recharge moment no matter how th rest of the week plays out
I was meaning a win after an emotional loss like last night playing back to backs to be the mark of a great team. or the players will just coast to the olympics which is something I don’t want to see

Probably a pointless comparison, but there’s such odd symmetry with the Caps and Hershey this year:
The Bears were on their own historic winning streak last month, having tied the team’s record at 12 straight. On January 13, they were 7 seconds from taking the Norfolk Admirals to overtime and a potential record-setting 13th win when the Admirals got one past Holtby. On Jan. 13, the Caps got their first win that began The Streak, which was ended last night only eight seconds from a shootout. The interesting part of this continuity is that the Bears haven’t lost a game since. They are still within sight of setting a new record this season, and remain seven seconds away from a 22-0 run.
Now helping to keep an eye on all things Gr8 at Alex Ovetjkin.

If last night’s game was like breaking up with your long term girlfriend when you’ve known it’s been coming for ~14 days… then today’s game would be the drunken one night stand rebound in a bar.
I’m not exactly sure how that will translate into an NHL analogy…. but it will be interesting to see.
Oi...
That’s a pretty amusing image, actually…
Rebounds usually work for a little while… if it can carry us through to Saturday, we’ll be fine until after the break. :-)
I need a snappy signature...
Then again… sometimes you don’t remember the rebound until 9.5 months later a crying sound comes from a basket outside your front door after you hear a knock
And the Sens just broke up with their girlfriend too.

Ahhh two horny, heartbroken teams. This is going to be some seriously inebriated, sloppy se.. i mean… hockey
…oh dear.
Let’s hope it isn’t TOO sl… er… well… two teams on the rebound… could get really messy.

Both teams should be hard to beat, as they’ve been a little softer easier as of late and want to get up on that high again.

I’m predicting many a fights in this game. Not at first… but give it a little time to warm up.
I’m predicting absolutely zero fights in this game.

Hmm.. Suddenly I have the urge to play Maniac Mansion
So did anyone ever find out what happed to Neuvy?
He injured now?
They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown.
Tarik tweeted that he has to miss one more game to be elegible to play in Hershey during the break.
His injury is supposed to be very minor though.
He tweaked something that had bothered him in Hershey, from what I heard. No idea what.

Of course, “very minor” and “able to play today if needed” (paraphrased) could be spin from the team, as they can’t send down an injured player. But the fact that he was on the bench for the second period would certainly seem to indicate that it’s nothing too substantial.

Probably spin, and probably minor. Probably just a tweak and extra caution because of the Chronicles of Varly.

The chronic-what-cles of Varly?

Mr Pibb and red vines = crazy delicious.
(On Mike Green) He’s urban, you northern folk wouldn’t understand!
Interesting…
(of course, I read “red wines” at first…)

Me too, hahaha. And I’m out of wine! I may have to venture out today, just for that.

But he wasn’t out there for the third. My take is that they kept him on the bench for the second because you have to skate across the ice to get to the visitor locker room at the Bell Center. No point disrupting the game to send Neuvirth across the ice to a French serenade. He skated off with the team after the 2nd and never returned.
Killer_Carlson and Steckel Me Elmo are like brothers to me. And when I say brothers I don't mean like actual brothers. I mean it like how black people use it, which is more meaningful, I think.
Good point. But it clearly wasn’t something that needed immediate medical attention. That was my point.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Agreed. That’s why I think the smart money says he just re-aggravated whatever he hurt a week or so ago.

On WTEM this afternoon, Joe B. let slip that Neuvirth hurt his knee last week, and aggravated it last night.
You may feel a slight sting.

Yikes!
Don’t bring up the subject of fire in Ottawa. Another visitor to their arena had an issue with fire a few months ago!
Let's go Caps!

Sorry not the best wording.
Let me rephrase, both teams are coming off long winning streaks.

2 GA or less and it’ll have me feeling much more confident about our prospects in goal come playoff time. Jose has played pretty well, but I can’t say I would trust him come April.

It appears that Chris Bourque and Karl Alzner have been summoned from Hershey. No confirmation from the Caps, though.

LW from hershey coming in at a meager 5’8" and some decent stats from the AHL
"Hey anyway I can get my name out there 30 years from now is great," Steckel said. "They will be like, ‘Who was that guy?’ Then they’ll look at the stats and say, ‘Well, at least that guy was really good on face-offs.’"
his name is familiar. seem to recal some uproar when he left. how’d we do without him? hope hes just an injury replacement and doesnt have to go through waivers again. there are some out there who may not be able to handle losing him twice in one season.
Just trying to capture the spirit of the thing...
