By the way, I just want to point out that yesterday’s noon number is inaccurate.
Which makes me very happy.

Wow, I am not sure what exactly to take away from this number. On the one hand, we have some fire power from Hershey, on the other, our man is our core team struggling a bit (be it with slumps or with injury).
So glad to see the Hershey boys doing well.

Great question. Hard to answer based on only a small number of games, but given the depth of this team, it’s hard for these Hershey guys to get into a lot of games.
I figure Perreault will continue to get in the lineup. He’s been better at 2C than anyone else. Plus, he’s our most productive goal scorer at the moment. Maybe he’s inconsistent but at least he’s scoring.

I’d give the nod to Knuble, who has the same number of goals in Dec (5), but also has 3 assists. It’s a bit concerning that Matty’s had zero assists this month. You can put it all on Semin having a drought, but for a centerman it’s not a number you want to have on your resume.

Good point on Knuble. And then again, it’s not only Semin in a drought on Perreault’s line but Laich has also scored only 2 goals this month as well. Semin and Laich have gotten assists for MP’s goals.

Snowburnt's noon number
The Caps are now 6-0 when I am on the road. maybe I should visit some relatives over new years and the entirety of the playoffs.
Suspend Colin Campbell!
Do any of your relatives live in a “nice” place to visit during the month of May which will hopefully be the merry month of May for Caps fans this year?

Another number, related to this: Guess who the Caps leading goal scorer was during the month of December. Matthieu Perreault

Nope. Knuble has 5 as well (Dal, Tor, Col, NJ, and Pitt games).

Well, when the big guns aren’t firing, somebody’s got to pick up the slack.
You had me at no problem.
… and when they don’t? Eight-game losing streak.

6 goals from Hershey players… 8 from Knuble, Laich and Fehr… 8 from Semin, Ovie, Backs and Green combined. You can see where the scoring is coming from.

Or not. Last goal by Nicky B. — Dec 1, for 2 goals. Last game for Semin came during the last game in November. Technically, Backstrom’s drought has gone on for 1 less game than Semin’s as far as games played by the team is concerned. Within that time frame, Semin missed 3 games.
It appears that Ovi and Green are breaking out of their slumps, scoring-wise. Semin and Backstrom have contributed some assists along the way even if goal-less.

so is MP85 ever going back down?
if so, would he have to clear waivers?
I mean, he’s been doing a pretty good job in comparison to the player he replaced (Boyd Gordon, I’d imagine). But Gordon is still a valuable asset, contributes things which Perrault cannot, and would be a shame to have sitting in the press box.
No waivers, and I’ve got no reason to think he’s going back down any time soon.

In the unlikely event that the entire team is ever healthy at the same time, wouldn’t he likely be an odd man out? We don’t have many players not subject to waivers.
"It's always good to have vikings."
I forgot about this. Would anyone pick up Sloan if he was put on waivers? I can’t imagine any team would bother.
We need at least one extra forward, and I don’t think King counts considering Bruce’s reluctance to play him.
If Gordon is healthy and MP is here, we have 14 forwards – so King could be sent down. Sloan too – that would get us to 23.

Yeah, if that ever happens (though I think that, depending on the 2C situation, throwing Tyler Sloan to waivers might be a better idea).

Flash is the one he is really replacing. Unless either MP totally falls apart or they get another 2C, he’s probably going to stay.

Even if he’s slumping, it’s not like they have anyone in Hershey who could replace his skill set. We saw last night that Accoin is not the answer, so I’d say that pretty much limits it to a trade.
I make out the healthy roster to be:
Ovechkin-Backstrom-Knuble
Laich-Perreault-Semin
Chimera-Johansson-Fehr
Hendricks-B. Gordon-Bradley
bench: King, Steckel
Green-Schultz
Carlson-Alzner
Hannan-Poti
bench: Erskine
Neuvirth and Varlamov
Sorry, Jay Beagle and Tyler Sloan…

I just wonder if they’ll send Sloan down or a second forward. If it’s a forward, I can’t think of any except King. I think your idea is probably right – they’ve mainly been keeping Sloan up to have 7 healthy dmen.

Beagle does seem to offer more to the Caps than DJ King but I assume Beagle would be subject to waivers if he stays with the Caps past the 10 game mark, which would complicate things just a bit.

Green is trying to get the D men back on the board a little for the month. Be hard to match their collective November shooting efforts though.
Everything ends badly...otherwise it wouldn't end.
A few more John Erskine goals would be nice!
