Beware the frankenjersey

I’m a little depressed I didn’t see those at the game. I’m all for getting creative with jersey’s as long as they’re done well, like a few of the jersey dresses that have made their way across the net, but this was just WOW
And on that note, I’d like to wish everyone on the Rink, its writers, readers, members and lurkers a Happy Chrismahanukwanzakah, and a Merry Festivus.
Bruce Boudreau when asked about Brooks Laich's return to the lineup, he said: "He just adds another dimension to our team. If it was puzzle, he just fits that thing. He completes us."
Brooks Laich completing everything from teams to tires and everything in between.
Merry Christmas Japers’ folk.
Got a question since I couldn’t find info anywhere: did Semin come back to play at all after the Orpik hit? It wasn’t all that clear what happened from the TV feed. It actually looked like Orpik missed altogether, but Semin was in obvious discomfort, so I assumed he got his arm caught. Has there been any explanation?
Semin played in the overtime, so he did return from after the hit…

Yeah it did. Another question, did Orpik leave his feet? Looked like he jumped up at Semin, and got him shoulder to head. I haven’t seen a replay though.

My instinct is to defend him because I’ve never seen him do that, but objectively, I have no idea, because the camera angle wasn’t right to be able to see it. Trying to find it on YouTube and failing.
I don’t think I’ve seen Orpik leave his feet before a hit too often (it happens…all players do it occasionally). Upon impact, it is hard for the player initiating the contact not to leave their feet. As Professor Bradley explained, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. If the player hitting goes forward, the other player goes back, if the player being hit goes downward some, the player doing the hitting will go up a little bit and off his skates…
Orpik hits hard, but he’s not a dirty player by any stretch. He’s not Mike Richards or Matt “185 off the rink” Cooke by any stretch…

Stanislav Galiev cut from Team Russia. Merry Xmas, Stas!
You perhaps knew me better as "Your Nation's Capital." Same great commentary, now with 100% more transparency!
You have to wonder if his odds would have been better if he hadn’t just spent 2 1/2 seasons in North America. It would be nice to believe that the Russian Hockey Federation was just choosing players on merit, but they make it hard to believe that.

I don’t follow Junior level hockey at all, so I have no idea of the relative merits of Galiev, but their Olympic roster definitely seemed to indicate that they favor players who stayed home.
The politics of the Russian teams are worse than the politics of our local travel teams.
The guy is Peter Schumpmaker. Lord knows what a schump is, but you can bet your bippy his ancestors made them. What he's doing is far worse than crafting fine schumps.

I should have said fuck it and gotten tickets…didn’t think I would be able to get up after partying night before and figured taking it easy watching it on TV would be a good way to recover. I will definitely attend the one we host though. So jealous of everyone that is going :) hope it’s as good a game as Thursday night was.

Winter Classic weather watch – 46 degress with a 40% chance of rain. Blech. Might need to consider making reservations to stay over an extra night.

"It's always good to have vikings."
Take that with a grain of salt. 10 days out they said we’d have a white Christmas, and now it’s “maybe” some tomorrow.
It was snowing earlier this morning.

Flurries =/= snow. I couldn’t even see them out the window.
Frankly, I’m all in favor of the 46 degrees. With any luck, the rain will be moved off to the next day.
"It's always good to have vikings."
It was a little more than fluries, it just only stuck to the grassy areas. Waking up on Christmas morning to see that was pretty cool, whether it was fleeting or not :)

Tomorrow is Christmas, wish it was a home game.
… WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM SUNDAY TO 6 AM EST MONDAY…
- PRECIPITATION TYPE… SNOW.
- ACCUMULATIONS… 6 TO 10 INCHES.
Do you know the procedure for postponing? If the chance of rain jumps to 90% the day before, will they call it then or wait until the day of?
If wishes were horses, we'd all be eating steak.

Monday is supposed to be a high of 28. Maybe the warm front moves out quickly. Here’s hoping.

All I want for Christmas is to go 4-0-1 heading into the Winter Classic. And then start off the New Year with a healthy dose of revenge.
Is revenge ever really healthy? Losing to the Pens on the 1st builds character and will make you stronger for the playoffs.

Revenge is a dish best served with fava beans and a nice chianti cold….
Does Penguin meat taste like chicken? And what wine is appropriate?

Happy Holidays from your friends at Pensburgh
Sometimes we say the wrong thing…
And we definitely don’t always get along…
But I think we can all agree, it just wouldn’t be the same without you…

Merry Christmas to Pens fans as well.
Looking forward to a great time inthe Burgh next Saturday. Think we could get 70k people to chant “Fuck you Flyers” in unison?
Just trying to capture the spirit of the thing...

Merry Xmas to you guys…. love the photoshop work changing the Pens into a rock band…. The Caps don’t need that shop work as they have the 2008-09 entry video where they pretended to be a rock band (the highlight was Donald Brashear as their security guy leading them to the stage in a perfectly tailored suit and white tie…)

I actually like that intro video. It got me pumped up before games, which left me feeling kind of dirty. Can’t say it was my inspiration, though. That would be the picture of Sid and Letang that I took in Columbus earlier this month. As soon as I saw it I thought Sid looked like he was jamming to some intense shit. For the holiday card I decided a 2-man band just wouldn’t cut it, so luckily I had decent pics of Geno and Fleury from the Calgary game last month and one of Staal from the Dallas game last year. Anyway, glad you liked it. :-)

Oh, and I’m sure several members of Pensburgh would like me to point out that in reality Sid and Geno would not be caught dead playing B.C. Rich instruments. That’s an oops on my part.

Merry Christmas to you as well, Chris. You’re here so often, you’re practically an honorary Caps fan. I hope you pull for them whenever they don’t play Nashville.
Rocking the Red for teams on the banks of the Potomac and at the Gateway Arch and Singing the Blues about Hockey.
He wants the Caps to go 17-1 against the west in years the Caps and Preds play once (and 16-2 in the years they play twice). Me I hope for that sort of record from all western teams against the East…just lose to the Caps and beat everyone else please.
