Near 100% – no need to recall him if he’s not going to play.

Exactly. There’s no reason to eat into their salary cap bank if they can avoid it.

Per Corey:

No #Caps move to make room for A. Gordon (yet). If its a guy to IR, Green, MJ90, King would have to miss Wed. Anyone else Wed and Sat.

Only Green was noted as “ill” on Sat; MJ and King were healthy scratches. Can they get away with calling them injured after that?

They can get away with most anything. The league doesn’t really oversee LTIR or IR determinations so it would have to seem flagrant for the league to do anything. The Caps could always come up with a reasonable sounding excuse.

I thought it was strange that Boudreau said that MarJo needed to sit out when after the previous game, Boudreau praised the effort of the bottom lines and called out the top lines. And MarJo was on the third line at the time.

Glad to see A Gordo called up. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy and I’m being serious here, not snarky.

Still, if it’s true that Green is going to IR, it’s odd that we’re calling up another forward and not another defenseman when we got lots of forwards and not lots of defensemen.

the caps already have 7 d-men up on the roster: hannan, poti, carlson, alzner, erskine, fahey, sloan

The give-away that it’s a D is that Fahey wasn’t sent down. We had mostly 7 D last year.

I was still assuming that Sloan was on IR.

Yes. If Sloan came off, presumably Fahey goes down.

So that means we have 7 guys, counting Green, if Sloan is still on IR. But if Green goes on IR, that means we have 6 d-men and 21 forwards, by my count.

Sloan’s back from IR, and they still have Fahey, so there’s more than enough to fill a roster. Team needs scoring, so a shakeup to the offense makes sense

Even if he is, nothing stopping them from puting him on Nacho duty.

If he’s off IR, then no room for Gordon, even if one more going on – right?

(I’m very, very confused.)

He’s eligible to come of IR, but not necessarily. Katie’s post on Wednesday:

—The groin strain that sidelined Tyler Sloan previously this season is why the defenseman is back on injured reserve. Although he’s participated in practice with the injury, he’s not ready to test it in a game yet and doesn’t know if he would be available for the earliest date he could come off IR Sunday against the Rangers.

I think he’s higher in the pecking order than Fahey.

I’m thrilled to see Andrew Gordon. I think that guy’s going to have a good, long, productive NHL career.

would be nice if he could get that shoulder somewhat healthy again. Seems like ever since he re-injured in the the 08 playoffs, it’s been remarkably prone to re-injury.

He’s gonna get the Bobby Orr treatment for the rest of his career (crush him on the forecheck before he gets a head of steam out of the zone) so we best get used to it.

I’d be ok with that if I thought his shoulder was even remotely healthy.
