Capitals Lunchbox, Episode 2
In which Russ Thaler and I discuss the Scott Hannan trade, the Caps' MVP to date and which Sasha reigns supreme. Dig it.

Way to contain it when Thaler said Boudreau. Just a mild brow lift.
And I hear you talk the talk, but I don't see you walk the walk and I still don't believe a thing you say.
Seriously, that was a headdesk worthy moment.
They’re still winning!
Yeah, because Neuvirth went absolutely nuts during October and the team finally (and mostly) stopped shitting the collective bed in November.
This is the epitome of judging outcome over process; this exact mode of thinking got Tuuka Rask traded for Andrew Raycroft and got a million and one stupid contracts signed.

MS Paint
the eyebrow raise caught my attention, too.
Thaler: “I’m going with the most valuable person on the Washington Capitals. Right now, to this point in the season, my MVP for this team is Bruce Boudreau, the head coach.”

Ha. I’m, like, incredulous!
Btw, now that I’ve been MS Painted I feel I’ve arrived… somewhere.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I agreed with the argument that Boudreau did a good job righting the ship after the New Jersey game…a bag skate on the road in the middle of a 7-games-in-12-days stretch is the type of thing that could completely backfire if not executed correctly. I give him credit for getting “tough” with the guys when they (apparently) needed it.
I think BB is a good coach, I think he’s the right coach for this team, and if had been fired after the playoffs, or were to be fired now for whatever reason, I’d be a bit pissed about it. I know there are those out there that don’t necessarily share this feeling, but I don’t feel like I’m really going against the crowd here either. Funny how the more a team wins, the more precarious a coaching job can become…if for no other reason that expectations get raised and more attention starts to be focus on every single detail of a team’s performance.
Having said, not a good choice for “Most valuable person” for the Caps up to this point in the season…not by a longshot. Neuvirth probably the first name that jumps into my head…and I can probably rattle off a few other names before I start to consider Gabby.
Regarding the whole “Ovechkin talking to Kovalchuck” issue, if it weren’t for Boudreau, and his reaction to it while it was happening, it would probably have never have been something he had to diffuse, so no credit to him on that one…sorry Russ.

No music bed, better seating arrangement and the hamburger seems to play a lesser role. Oh, and apart from Boudreau being the MVP (if you wanted to be that guy, just throw GMGM out there) another solid episode.

I have no idea, but I’m totally objectifying her right now.

As a woman and a vegetarian, I find your juxtaposition of luncheon meat and female. Are we all processed for your delectation?!
Got my user name back from the dingo...
As a psychology student, for the most part, yes. Not in a demeaning way, but that’s just how most men think at least in a base or unconsciouss manner. Lizard brain in action
We’re not going down this road again in a content post. Continue discussion in the OT/OT if both parties are interested.

The Caps jersey beer cozy graphic—is that the Sens’ “O” shoulder patch logo on the shoulders of the cozy?

I still can’t get over the notion of packing a burger and fries in a lunch box.
But good stuff.
