"Maybe we didn’t score five or six goals, but the whole game we were up one goal and we played consistently. Then they got frustrated and we were able to put two more in. Even if we win by one, 1-0, that’s a great game for us."

I’ll rec this with the naive hope that 19 other folks continue to make things that “boring” for 6 or 7 more months.
"I’m happy to have contributed to this league, to have done something important in my career, I’m proud, but you always will think you still could’ve done more, but tonight tells I’ve done things well."
I take some (naive?) solace in the fact that Mike Green appears to no longer be as much of a headcase. If he’s not concerned with playing flashy hockey, and is concerned with getting it done, that’s a huge step in the right direction for him.
And I could live with 18 others making things “boring.” I’m not holding out for Semin to agree to that.

Green has always had room to grow between the ears… and to think of his skillset being wielded by a level truly mature and focused guy is pretty scary. Quotes like this definitely make you think he is “getting it”, but clearly it’s a slow process.

That’s another dollar pledged for wisdom.

Talk is cheap
it takes money to buy whiskey.
I’m done with quotes, bakeries, tire changing, locker room leadership and all that BS.

Lest this sound needlessly flippant – it’s not as though the coaching staff and players didn’t know any of this last year. It’s all about execution at this point.
'Cause the end of what it was is what it is right now...
I dunno. While I agree, insofar as I’m more interested in what happens during the 60 minutes than after it.. at the same time, I just have a hard time getting upset when guys say the right thing. We sort of expect it, especially now, with players getting PR coaching and having a narrative from upstairs. Still.
I guess I’d sympathize more with this viewpoint if that kind of quote came after a night where they didn’t perform on the ice the way we want to see them perform come the post-season. Say, the Preds game.
