We discussed organizing a game watch at ESPN Zone Baltimore in the Clips thread today for the Baltimore folks on the Rink, and I promised a FanPost so we could hash out the details. Of course this is open to any Rink Rat or Rabbit, but us Baltimore folks can't always make the long treks to VA. As most of you know, I work at the Zone, so I'm going to take on the task of organizing this event. I can probably hook us up with food discounts and maybe some free game cards for the Sports Arena. I went through the event schedule and Caps away schedule and picked out a few dates that would work.
I made sure that the games for the dates I'm offering up are being broadcast in HD. Trust me, CSN- looks awful on the plasmas and big screen.
Wednesday, March 3rd - Capitals vs. Sabres - 7pm
Sunday, March 14th - Capitals vs. Blackhawks - 7pm
An FYI on the above dates - There is a Duke/UNC basketball game on Feb. 10 at 9pm, so not too much of a conflict. There is a Maryland/Duke basketball game at 9pm on March 3rd. The Blackhawks game is looking like the best date if we want to do a large viewing party (a la Baileys back on Jan. 2) It's a Sunday evening game that starts after the NCAA Selection Show. For non-college basketball fans, that means all NCAA basketball games are finished, and there is absolutely nothing on that night.
So there you have it. We can always organize smaller viewing parties if a few of us want to meet up for the away games that might be in the minority. Vote in the poll and let us know who is interested in the comments.
UPDATE: So it seems that almost everyone voted for the Blackhawks game on March 14th. This game has an NBC option, so the time may change to 12:30pm. I added a poll so that we can still get an idea of how many people can make it depending on time. I want to get a ballpark figure of how many to expect so I can discuss setting it all up with my bosses. For those of you planning on attending, let me know how many you will be bringing with you in comments.
Also, I noticed a few votes for the Canadiens game on February 10th. If some of you are still interested in that day, I can organize a mini-Game Watch party. If we stay under 15 people, I can get our VIP skybox that overlooks the Screening Room with the big screen. Let me know in the comments who would be interested in that, as well. Thanks!
